Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me smile in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures.
Five Happy Things {Week 35/2025}
The teens have been enjoying the last full week of their school summer holidays. We went to Putt Shack and played a few rounds of golf, and then went to Social Dough for some delicious pizza.
We spent the weekend in Sherborne and managed to go and see Gaia in Sherborne Abbey, a touring artwork by UK artist, Luke Jerram.
I’ve been reading A Fortnight in September by R C Sherriff, a gorgeous Persephone ‘grey’ copy. I’ve wanted to read this for a while and thought the changing of the month would be the perfect time.
If you buy Love Embroidery magazine you’ll see the latest issue included a Autumn Embroidery postcard kit. It includes 3 perforated designs to sew, plus 4 shades of thread. I packed it to take away on our weekend away
We decided to watch The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix, rather than go and watch it at the cinema. I was a big fan of the books but the film just wasn’t quite as good in my opinion. I’m so glad I read the book first.
What’s made you happy this week?

Well, that’s a fun little discovery to find in your favorite magazine. That would make me happy!
Oh, that is so much fun! That must be like the adult crafty version of a kid finding a prize in the bottom of the ceral box!
Sounds like you and your kids had the best week. We watched The Thursday Murder Club yesterday, and my mom enjoyed it too.
I like how autumn feeling the embroidery is! It sounds like a really fun week for you and your family.
So lovely! I was lucky enough to see Gaia in the Painted Hall in Greenwich a few years ago – I thought it was stunning!
I want to also watch the show on Netflix. i havent read the book so maybe i will like it!
I am not creative enough to do embroidery but the Autumn embroidery postcard picture that you shared is beyond gorgeous. Are you going to do any of these? That would be amazing.
I love these little weekly reflections, such a cozy way to hold onto the small joys! Your trip to Sherborne sounds lovely, and now I really want to check out A Fortnight in September.
Sherborne sounds like an awesome place to visit. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
