Five Happy Things {Week 29/2025}

Posted on July 20, 2025 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me smile in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures.

Five Happy Things {Week 29/2025}

This week my blog needed a few updates which resulted in me changing the theme of my blog which meant losing my beautiful new blog header. It feels like I’ve only had it a few weeks! When I have some more time I will find a better theme and reinstate my lovely header.

We watched Dept. Q with Matthew Goode on Netflix which was really good. We couldn’t wait to sit down and watch an episode.

The kids had their last full week at school (another few days for them next week!). My son took part in his summer music concert at school, was awarded the prize for Physics,  and my daughter took part in an athletics competition. I’m sure I’m not the only parent counting down to the end of term and a break from all those exhausting extra activities.

I also finished reading Someone at a Distance by Dorothy Whipple. This was the fourth book I’ve read by her (after High Wages, Greenbanks and Random Commentary) and was quite simply brilliant. I was so sad when I finished it.

Over the weekend my son and I paid a visit to Whiskers and Cream Cat Cafe on the Holloway Road. We love a cat cafe and this one had the sweetest cats.

Let me know what made you happy lately in the comments below.

    Oof. That’s the way it always goes. You change one thing, and everything else explodes. LOL

    I’m sure the last week of school was a BIG happy thing for the kids. I always loved that when I was a kid.

    To be honest, this is new to me. I am not familiar with it, but it sounds interesting to me.

    I absolutely am so excited about the summer holiday! It’s been years since I went to Whiskers and Cream in London, and I really should book up going again.

    What a lovely week! I would especially love the time spent reading (my favorite) and visiting the cat cafe.

    I haven’t watched the Dep’t Q, but I know it’s on Netflix. I will try seeing it because you made me interested.

    I’ve heard a lot about Dept. Q on Netflix but didn’t get the chance to watch it yet…I can’t wait to watch it.

    Been hearing a lot about Dept Q. Something to look forward to this weekend. Also, thank you for mentioning “Someone at a Distance by Dorothy Whipple,” have not heard about this so one more thing to enjoy. Loving the new look, by the way, as annoying as upgrading can be sometimes.
