Five Happy Things {Week 250}

Posted on July 22, 2019July 22, 2019 by jenny

I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. We are so happy to have reached the end of term. I don’t know about you, but it just feels like there are so many things to squeeze into the end of term, especially with my daughter finishing at her Infant School.

Five Happy Things {Week 250}

Obviously all our extra-curricular clubs finished last week. Little Sis was awarded *many* Beaver badges before they finished with their traditional water fight. Big Brother enjoyed a Wide Game (which is his favourite thing) followed by a Cook Out at his last Cubs meeting. I’m glad they both enjoy being part of Scouts but I’m so happy to have a few weeks off from taxi-ing them around.

My son hasn’t been taking part in many of his after school clubs, due to his recent broken wrist. My daughter has been carrying on with her karate lessons and this week was awarded her Red belt. This also means she can move up to the next class in September.

I always look forward to receiving the end of term reports. My children both know that all we ask is they try their best at school. However, I was blown away by both of their reports and my daughter’s Year 2 SATS results. It didn’t stop me buying them both workbooks to keep their brains ticking over the holidays though. They were both given a small reward: Big Brother chose V bucks and Little Sis a Pokemon Poke ball.

On Friday we headed to our local library and both children ticked off Week 2 of the Summer Reading Challenge. We take part every year and the children enjoy collecting the rewards each week. Little Sis will read pretty much anything but her older brother is finding it difficult to find any new authors he enjoys. I like the fact he enjoys reading non-fiction but I’m hoping he will discover a new author soon.

Next Monday we’ll be taking part in a Missing Link viewing party at home and you can join us! Have you watched the film? In it Mr. Link recruits explorer Sir Lionel Frost to help find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, this trio of explorers travels the world to help their new friend. Why not download the film, as it will be available for digital download from the 29th July, and view at the same time as us? Look out for a competition we’ll be hosting next week where you can win a copy of Missing Link on DVD and a plush Mr Link.
