Family Life Monday Happy List

Five Happy Things {Week 224}

Monday morning again. Hope you had a great weekend. I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Five happy things {Week 224}

As you know I went back to work in July. I enjoy my job but it is so hard fitting everything I need to do around the working day. So I decided to  reduce my hours at work to 4 days a week. Now I can get more done on my day off and enjoy my time with the kids more (even if I’m just being mum’s taxi!).

Have you been watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo on Netflix? I haven’t read her book but I love the show and it’s had a huge impact on our home. I’ve been de-cluttering like crazy and the house is looking so much better for it. Last week I did the kitchen and actually enjoyed getting rid of so much. When we went shopping over the weekend we kept asking ourselves if an item “sparked joy” before we bought it! I like this way of living and hope it will simplify what we buy and keep.

the tea towels do not spark joy any more

We’ve started watching quite a few new shows recently including Sex Education and DC Titans on Netflix and The Marvelous Mrs Maizels on Amazon. It’s so good to have a decent programme to watch in the evening.

On Saturday we went to the London Model Engineering Exhibition at Ally Pally. We try and go every year and the kids love to see all the different trains, boats, lorries and planes. There was a lot for them to do this year. My son took part in the Lego building challenge and was so happy to top the leader board for most of the day. We used to live near Ally Pally so enjoyed a walk in the grounds after the exhibition even though it was bitterly cold.

Yesterday we went out for a walk in Ruislip Woods. Again it was really cold but it didn’t stop the children from running around. We took our RC cars and some of our most recent painted rocks to hide. The children have decorated quite a few recently so we need to make sure we hide them!

Have a great week.

    It sounds like you have had a great week and glad you managed to reduce your hours to give you a little more time! I have seen lots of people talking about Marie Kondo and really think I need to watch as my house could really benefit from some serious decluttering!

    I have loved watching Tidying Up With Marie Kondo on Netflix. I could never fit all my jeans in my drawers but I now fold them the way she suggests and they fit!

    I’m glad you’ve reduced your hours at work if you’re finding the balance better. Sex education is such a good show so you need to carry on watching it, i was obsessed. We’ve started on the punisher which I’m loving so far x

    I absolutely loved the Marvellous Mrs Maisel – proper evening viewing, that! I’ll have to check out Tidying Up – our house is a cluttered mess!

    I really want to watch Marie Kondo! I started the 1st episode but with a baby it’s hard to watch a show completely in sub titles because I keep having to look down at him haha!

    It sounds like you had a fabulous week. I haven’t yet jumped on the Maria Kondo trend.. but after reading about it everywhere I might have to give it a go.
