Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and a very Merry Christmas. Each week I start off by writing my Five Happy Things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.
Five happy things {Week 221}
Christmas Day passed in a bit of a present opening blur to be honest, as I expect it does for most parents of young children. The children had both asked for Lego sets, fortunately they were both good all year and received the sets they wanted (the Lego City Police Station, Lego Ninjago Destiny’s Bounty and the Lego Technic Porsche). They were lucky to receive lots of lovely gifts which they have been enjoying, especially the Aquabeads Magical Unicorn Set.
This will definitely be the Christmas that we’ll remember for my 7 year old finally getting a love for reading. Something just clicked with her and she’s been devouring books, sometimes in bed with a torch when she should be sleeping! I picked up a few Horrid Henry books for her but she’s also been reading her brothers Captain Underpants books. They have both been enjoying the new Guinness Book of Records and we have all been learning some interesting facts from it.
We decided to enjoy Christmas lunch at The Three Daggers in Eddington. We’ve had some lovely meals there and thought it would be a great location for Christmas lunch. We weren’t disappointed, enjoying a delicious five course Christmas Day lunch.
I was lucky to received a stacking jewellery box to keep all of my Tatty Devine necklaces tidy, as well as a new Orla Kiely handbag.
There has been loads of time for crafting. I made sure to pack some small craft projects with me to enjoy over Christmas. I managed to try my hand at making paper stars, a sweet felt bear and fox as well as embroider a pretty mistletoe hoop. I can’t wait to share these with you although I have to admit I’ve enjoyed having a break from social over the last week!
