Five Happy Things

Five Happy Things {Week 21/2025}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me smile in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures.

Five Happy Things {Week 21/2025}

I was really proud of my daughter who went to our local borough athletics competition and came first in javelin (just like last year). She enjoyed taking part as it was a whole day out of school.

I spent the weekend making gingham coasters with my daughters box of hama beads. I love hama beads and we’ve made so many things over the last few years. It was fun making some which was both pretty to look at and practical too.

As it’s a Bank Holiday weekend I thought I should make a cake and chose a lemon and poppy seed cake. I’ve had the recipe from a magazine for ages so it was good to have time to make it.

My daughter and I went and collected the wax burner and wax melts we made at Wick and Ceramic last weekend. The wax burners had been glazed and fired so looked really different to how we had left them. Our wax melts smelled amazing too so we are looking forward to using them.

My son is currently taking part in his Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition and walking around the Chilterns with his friends. The weather has been quite cool with a little rain so I’m hoping he’s stayed warm and dry. At least this time he took trousers and a jumper (he forgot last time!).

What’s made you happy this week?

    We used those iron-beads for making butterflies, which we stuck to our bookshelves. They are so much fun! Lemon poppy seed is my favorite type of muffin.
