Spring pennant from love embroidery magazine

Five Happy Things {Week 17/2025}

Posted on April 27, 2025 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 17/2025}

We started the week with a Bank Holiday which was lovely. We went for a walk in Highgrove Woods to see the bluebells and managed a couple of geocaches with the kids too. The weather has been really good and warmer so we’ve been spending a lot of time in the garden. I’ve been replenishing our herb garden, and we’ve taken some plants out of pots and into the ground.

I finished reading The Elopement by Gill Hornby, all about the life of Mary Dorothea Knatchbull, who was related to Jane Austen via her stepmother Fanny Austen Knight. I enjoyed the story a lot and found it easy to immerse myself in the story.

Finished stitching both the bee keyring and the Spring pennant which were gifts with my Love Embroidery magazine subscription. I have such a huge pile of things I want to make, but sometimes I enjoy stitching a little project for an hour or two.

My son started his Year 10 mock exams. He had a full week with two exams every day which was a bit of a shock for him. We bought plenty of work books and revision cards so I’m hoping he used these to help his revision. He has two more mocks this week, and another two the following week.

We used our pizza oven for dinner. We have an ooni pizza oven and used ready made pizza dough for a quick and easy dinner one night. We love our pizza oven and use it when friends come over for dinner too!

    You really have a great talent. I tried doing it like this before, but it wasn’t for me.

    My mom loves to do stitches too as her hobby. We have so many pieces that she works on.

    My happy thing this week was seeing a flock of bluejays in my backyard, there were like 8 of them, gorgeous birds.

    Glad you got out even though it was a bit lonely. The bluebells have been fantastic this year near me. I also have a pizza oven and absolutely love it.
