Five Happy Things

Five Happy Things {Week 16/2025}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family. It was lovely to celebrate Easter with family today, especially chocolate Easter eggs for the kids and a delicious roast dinner with my mum.

Five Happy Things {Week 16/2025}

We bought a record player! Technology has changed so much over the last few years. I wish I had all the albums I have ever bought. Buying a record player feels like reclaiming my youth a little, and now I can spend weekends searching for some of the records I used to own in my local charity shops.

On Saturday we went and searched for some of the decorated eggs on The Big Egg Hunt sculpture trail. We stayed around Battersea Power Station in London and there were plenty to keep us busy. We used the app to record the unique number on each egg too.

A few weeks ago we saw a trailer for the animated film Flow. It wasn’t showing in our local cinema but we found our local Everyman cinema was showing it on one evening. It was such a beautiful film, and fun to see it in a cinema with sofas.

On Saturday we took a trip in Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station. This lift is inside one of the iconic towers at Battersea Power Station and gives the most amazing views over London. Fortunately the day was sunny and bright so we were able to see all the famous London landmarks from the Wembley arch to Big Ben and Crystal Palace.

I bought my daughter the Easter Chick Gingerbread Biscuit Kit from Asda (a bargain at £2.48). We had fun making the gingerbread, then she decorated the biscuits with icing to look like chicks. They kept her busy for a few hours and made for a fun Easter bake.

    The Big Egg sculpture trail sounds like a lot of fun. That’s a great way to enjoy some Easter festivities and get in some art.

    That gingerbread kit looks like a lot of fun. We do one every year for Christmas. I didn’t know they made them for Easter, too.

    I would love to get a record player and reclaim a bit of my youth. I do love Everyman cinemas. I have booked for me. my daughter and my mum to visit one on Saturday to watch Penguin Lessons

    My kids have record players and they absolutely love them! They get records of their favorite bands for Christmas and birthdays. We also like to look for vintage albums at thrift stores.

    I checked the big egg hunt sculpture trail and it is so awesome. I would love to do it in person, that would be awesome.

    Sounds like a very fun week! I have always wanted to go on the top of the Power Station, however, the weather has never been nice when I have been in the area. Great to hear it’s worth it! The gingerbread kits at Asda – I just don’t get why they are gingerbread and not sugar cookies. It feels to Christmas for me.
