Five classic films I want to watch

I’m so excited by the start of a New Year. I still have to write my 2017 goals post, the month is already going by far too quickly. I’m keen to try new things this year and have already made a start on this by trying to make the macrame kit which came with the latest issue of Mollie Makes. I figure it is better to try something new than not try at all, although I have to be honest and say I don’t think macrame will be my new hobby….

Anyway, I love to sit and watch a film with my husband at the weekend. It always feels like we can stay up late, even though the children seem to get up earlier at the weekend than they do during the week! We try to watch something a bit different, something we wouldn’t normally reach for, and cosy up on the sofa with popcorn and beer.

We like the same kind of films and have drawn up a little list of the classic films we want to watch in 2017. These are: Westworld, Get Carter, GoodFellas, Dirty Harry and Strangers on a Train. You can see the full list here.

Top of my list is definitely Westworld as we have just watched the Westworld tv series, based on the 1973 film.

A lawyer and businessman (Richard Benjamin and James Brolin) take a dream holiday to the newly opened technological paradise Westworld, a resort offering its visitors all the thrills, but none of the dangers, of the old Wild West, which is recreated by supposedly harmless robots. However, when one of the computerized gunslingers (Yul Brynner) malfunctions, the two city slickers find themselves in a battle for their lives. Made in 1973 this was the directorial debut of ‘Jurassic Park’ author, Michael Crichton.

Look out for my Twitter competition where I will be hosting a RT to Win competition, giving you the chance to win a set of these films too! Follow me @gingerbread_mum if you don’t already.
