We spent New Year’s Eve solving a Play at Home Escape Room which reminded me that we never shared our experience at Escape Hunt Watford. My daughter chose to do an Escape Room for her 11th birthday after reading about them in the Week Junior. If you haven’t heard of them before, they are a game you play with others, where you solve a series of clues to unlock puzzles within a specific time frame.
Escape Hunt Watford
We found an Escape Room near us in Watford and chose an experience. There are 6 escape rooms at Escape Hunt Watford, but they also offer escape rooms to play at home or even outdoors.
The current escape rooms are Curse of the Pharoah, Blackbeard’s Treasure, Alice in Puzzleland, Our Finest Hour, The Fourth Samurai, and Escape the Wild West. There are also some virtual reality experiences too. My daughter liked the sound of Alice in Puzzleland so we booked online for the four of us.
We were shown into our room and told we had one hour before we would be loved in – unless we could solve the puzzles and unlock the door of course. As soon as the door locked behind us we started looking for clues and there were plenty all around us. Each time we solved a clue something else in the room would open or unlock.
Time passed really quickly and a few times we needed a clue and a voice would magically appear and give us a little hint! We had a lot of fun and amazingly we solved the clues and escaped the room before our time was up!
We were given cards with our time on – 53 minutes! The best times were displayed in the entrance but I think we’re going to need to try a few more escape rooms if we want to see our names up there.
Escape Hunt Watford can be found in Unit R4, Atria Watford, 201 The Harlequin, Watford WD17 2AU.
