Love it or loathe it but the Elf on the Shelf will be landing in T-5 days. I bought one a few years ago and the children love seeing what he gets up to every day in December. I clearly made a rod for my own back and spend most of December trying to think of new places to hide him, usually at about 11.30 at night!
This year I am being super organised and have planned my activities. A few months ago I set up a secret Pinterest board and have been Pinning Elf on the Shelf ideas. I have enough activities for a whole year but have whittled them down to my favourite 24. There’s only one problem – I can’t actually find our Elf on the Shelf! I went into the loft to bring him down but he was nowhere to be seen. I’m pretty sure I put him back in his box last Christmas Eve but now I’m not sure at all.
I have a few more days to look for him and place him inside our Advent Sleigh, or panic buy another one from Amazon. I’ve picked up a few things to help me with my elf adventures. My local card shop has some brilliant products and I bought a fun ‘Elf in Operation’ sign to hang up around the house. I also found a cute little Elf Mail kit which holds tiny notepaper, envelopes and stamps. I think our elf will be leaving some notes for the children, especially if their bad behaviour continues.
I can’t believe I have to spend tomorrow looking for our naughty elf, as I’m really not quite sure what I’ll say to the children if I can’t find him.

November 28, 2016 at 2:16 pmI finally found him hiding at the bottom of the wardrobe. Or rather my husband did, after I told him I had already looked there!

November 28, 2016 at 1:51 pmI must admit I’m too lazy for Elf on the Shelf. I’ve bought advent calendars for everybody and that’s about as organised as I get.

November 28, 2016 at 2:16 pmI’m hoping to be super organised this year. There were a few moments I forgot to move him last year and had to say he wasn’t moving until the children behaved themselves!
