Deck the Halls for less

Posted on December 17, 2014September 14, 2022 by jenny

My 4 year old woke me up today to tell me he didn’t think we had enough Christmas decorations up! I thought we had made a good effort with our reindeer in the window, Christmas tree, wreath and everything else. Obviously not, and so as not to disappoint my 4 year old further, today I hit the shops.

At this time of year I don’t have much money left but fortunately I found everything I needed in my local Poundland. I managed to pick up some gorgeous decorations in red and white as I’m trying to have a Scandi Christmas theme this year. I decided to concentrate my efforts in the dining room as that is where we’ll be spending a lot of time over Christmas.

Scandi decorations

I cleared the sideboard of clutter and put down a sweet linen style runner decorated with snowflakes. Then I placed a white decorative tree and hung my new red and white decorations. I bought knitted woollen socks, red and white button heart wreaths, sweet wooden houses and natural looking wreaths. They are all so pretty, great value and there was an amazing selection of colours and styles to choose from.

Also on the sideboard I placed two glass star votives and tea light candles in my vintage ruler tray.

I added a blackboard Christmas countdown and a lovely red house-shaped tea light holder. No, you can never have enough candles at this time of year!

I also picked up a Santa key as we don’t have a working chimney and the children have been asking how Father Christmas will deliver our presents. My 3 year old picked out a wooden ‘Santa Stop Here!’ sign too so that’s outside. I don’t think there’s any chance Father Christmas will miss our house!

As well as all the pretty decorations I also stocked up on craft kits and craft supplies to keep my children busy over the Christmas holidays. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram as I’ll be sharing pictures of what we’re up to over there. Anyway, I would love to hear what you think of my table top Winter Wonderland. And I can’t wait to see what my 4 year old thinks when he gets home from school.

A big thank you to Poundland for sending me a voucher to help write this post.

Beautiful decorations! I must remember to pop to my local Poundland to get a Santa’s key, otherwise he might not be able to come in! x
