Paradise Wildlife Park is Hertfordshire’s best zoo and offers a range of great activities for the perfect family day out. Today we headed off to enjoy a day out there, with a picnic and a change of clothes for the kids!
Paradise Wildlife Park
Our first stop was to see some of the animals that Paradise Wildlife Park is known for. They have so many animals, including tigers, lions, meerkats, tapirs, camels, wolves and so much more. We all love the cute little meerkats.
We also managed to time it right that we watched the penguins being fed. There were loads of talks throughout the day but sadly this was the only one we managed to watch.
My 6 year old is obsessed with otters so we managed to find them and walk around the other animal enclosures. We were given a map which was really useful although I was sad I missed the sloths which are my favourites. The reptile house was really good too.
There was plenty of shade around the animals and birds which helped us keep cool. The weather today was scorching so we made sure to stop for plenty of drinks and ice-creams. After we had visited all the animal enclosures we crossed over the road to the play areas. There is an indoor soft play area, a splash park, numerous play areas and World of Dinosaurs.
We’d never been to Paradise Wildlife Park before but I had a look at their website and knew the children would love World of Dinosaurs, especially after our trip to Dinosaurs in the Wild last weekend. Apparently it is one of the UK’s biggest and most spectacular animatronic dinosaur attractions, set in acres of natural woodland.
World of Dinosaurs features 30 life-size, moving and roaring dinosaurs. You can walk around but we decided to take a ride on the miniature railway. We were all feeling pretty hot and tired so it was lovely to sit down and spot our favourite dinos.
It was definitely time for lunch at this point of the day so we found a shady spot and enjoyed some food. The children spotted the Dino-Dig and were very happy excavating dinosaur bones for half an hour.
By this stage of our visit we were all feeling pretty hot so it was time to head to Paradise Lagoon for a cool down at the splash park. It was a lovely area and the children were so happy to play with the other children, slide into the water and cool down. We had brought a change of clothes when they suddenly realised how cold the cold water was!
We went back to the play area for a quick play before we headed home. It felt like we hadn’t seen everything that Paradise Wildlife Park had to offer but that just makes us want to go back soon for another visit!

This sounds just like the kind of place that my kids would love, especially the Paradise Lagoon after a busy day walking around the zoo which looks fab!
What fab photos! I love your little one coming out of the dinosaur egg. My brother has a total meercat obsession and I have some hilarious pics of him literally covered with them – it’s good to know he’s not alone!
Paradise Wildlife Park sounds really good. Never been, so will have to visit soon. Love Meerkats too.
This reminds me alot of Twycross Zoo in the midlands, a popular destination for our family when I was a kid. The meercats are so cute too! I love how they stand up on their legs like that.
I’ll admit the penguin talk would be the first one I would go to as they are my favourite animals. I love the interaction that parks offer now. It’s great for learning. I agree you can never get bored of going to a place like this and they are always worth going back too.

It sounds like there is so much to do at Paradise Wildlife Park. The waterpark must have been a great way to cool off in this sunny weather. I’d love to see the dinosaurs there.
I have heard great things about Paradise Wildlife Park. Looks good
