Cross stitch pendant

I’ve seen a couple of cross stitch pendants and thought they looked fun to stitch. The only place I could find them was from the workroom, a Canadian sewing shop, so I duly ordered a couple and waited for them to arrive.

I was really pleased with the laser cut cross stitch pendants, both wooden, one with a scalloped edge and one circular, which measure just over 2″.

I wanted to stitch something to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee so I found some free Jubilee motifs from CrossStitcher. The motifs included a union flag (which I stitched for the God Save the Queen swap I recently took part in), a red phone box, red London bus, black London cab and a colourful crown which I thought would be fun.

It was really easy and quick to stitch and I like the finished result. The only thing I didn’t like was that the yellow thread quickly dulled as it picked up dirt whilst threading through the pendant. This must be a side effect of the fact the pendant is laser cut so next time I will stitch something using stronger colours.

  1. Could you give it a swish in some warm, soapy water before sewing to get rid of any odd bits of dust?

  2. These are a really great idea. I really like the crown – I quite like the subtle effect.

  3. These are really nice – its a shame you have to order from so far away. Love that you did a crown! Mich x

    1. You can now order them form Miso Funky if you want them quicker:

The workroom did refund some of the postage charges though as they charged too much which I thought was nice of them.

  4. Love it and thanks so much for the inspirational idea for a cross stitch pendant, wow so many possibilities! thanks so much for sharing on Craft Schooling Sunday!
