Edward’s going through a phase where nothing makes him happier than munching his way through a bag of crisps. To some people, this is probably akin to giving him a fruit shoot or biscuit but he has a balanced diet so this is his treat. The last couple of times he’s had a bag we’ve been on a bus and the bag has ripped, sending crisps everywhere! This is obviously a huge social faux pas and has resulted in lots of looks from fellow travellers.
A couple of times I’ve tried to take the bag from him as it’s started to split but he hasn’t understood what I’ve tried to do which has resulted in a full blown public melt down. I’m not sure what’s worse – looks from other passengers that I’m bringing up my son to be a litterbug or a toddler tantrum in public.
If I had an ounce of energy I would put it into inventing a snack bag which didn’t rip. I’m sure my son can’t be the only one who suffers from extreme excitedness when faced with a bag of snacks. Bless him, he’s even learned to scrunch the empty bag up and give it to me – on the rare occasions they haven’t already scattered over the floor, of course.
Oh I feel y our pain hell hath no fury than a toddler with an independent streak and a packet of crisps !
Maybe get one of those sandwich bags with the plastic zippy top bit (technical wording there) that you get in supermarkets and decanter the crisps into it first… mind you where’s the bloody fun in that !
I feel for ya too, my little one is the same with smarties – he always manages to tip them everywhere and they roll all over the place if you’re on the bus. Fellow passengers don’t take kindly to smarties underfoot 🙁
