It’s a bit of cliche that you can see your children grow during the school holidays, but it’s a cliche because it’s true! It doesn’t feel as though I’ve stopped washing clothes, cooking meals or food shopping since the school holidays began. Every year I forget just how much energy my children have and I really can see them grow during the summer months. Of course this means they’ve needed new clothes too but I love shopping with them and seeing them enjoy picking their own clothes now they’re a little older.
Creating a grown up living space
It’s not just them that are constantly changing. I’ve noticed that how they want to spend their free time has changed too. We’ve had to say goodbye to some toys this summer – bye Peppa Pig – and although they still love to play I’ve noticed that they both love to chill with Netflix (Big Brother) or YouTube (Little Sis).
For the last few years we’ve had a 3 seater and 2 seater sofa which have been perfect. But with less toys out we’ve been thinking of reinstating a coffee table (we haven’t had one since it was made into a Lego table!) and buying another comfy chair. So when Sloane and Sons got in touch asking if we would like to review one of their fabric tub chairs, the timing couldn’t have been better.
Our sofas were orange and grey so we opted for a grey tub chair. It arrived whilst the children were at Kids Club and they were absolutely delighted to see it when they got home. Of course they’ve been fighting over who gets to sit in it but that’s a good sign it’s comfortable. We’ve placed it opposite the tv which has created a lovely seating area when we’re all watching a film in the evening. I’m sure there are some other things we can do to create a more grown up living space for tweens. As much as I’m sad that the children need less toys, I’m happy to reclaim a bit more of my living room.
Disclosure – thanks to Sloane and Sons for sending us a tub chair to review
