I’ve wanted to create with Fimo (also known as polymer clay and modelling clay) since I was at middle school. There was a really talented creative girl who made me a little ornament (which I’ve still got!) and I really wanted to have a go myself but never got round to it. So when Merry from Patch of Puddles asked if I would like to try out some of the kits she stocks I jumped at the chance.
Her business was set up in her kitchen cupboard while she was at home with her children. Fimo Polymer Clay was the third product she sold, mainly as she had a huge passion for it as a child. It’s still very much a small, personal business and her family’s entire livelihood.
I chose two products to play with, the Fimo Soft Basic Starter Kit which includes 9 different colour blocks, varnish, modelling tool and mat and the Fimo Soft Create Your Own Teddy Bears Set which includes4 blocks of colour. We had a lot of fun following the instructions for making the bears as well as making some gingerbread figures and Chuggington trains for Edward!
I’m too embarrased to show you what I’ve made. Let’s just say that modelling with fimo is much more difficult than I thought and I will be practising a lot more before I show anyone what I’ve made! If you need some inspiration then pop over to Merry’s own website to see what she has been busy making, as well as links to her online shops.
Disclosure – the products were sent to me for the purpose of review
