August Craft Drops subscription box unboxing

Posted on September 5, 2015March 20, 2016 by jenny

You know by now that I love subscription boxes. There are a few crafty subscription boxes around and I was very happy to try the August Craft Drops subscription box. Each box is everything you need to make a complete crafty project (and loads of lovely extras to experiment with too). The theme of each box is kept a surprise so I didn’t know what the contents would be until it arrived through my letter box.

The Craft Drops subscription box came all wrapped up, it fitted through my letter box and as well as the craft supplies contained two little treats, some cookies and a delicious lip balm.

The theme of the August Craft Drops subscription box was Quilling! Now I had never tried quilling before so I was exited to try something new. The box contained everything I needed: a special cork board, quilling papers tools, glue, pins and more.

The lovely thing about Craft Drops is that a subscription gives you exclusive access to the members only area with a live project webinar, pre-recorded video tutorials, extra links and pdf guides on things to try with your extra supplies.

I was unable to join the live webinar so I caught up with the pre-recorded video tutorial. I found this an ideal way to learn as I could watch it at my leisure once the children had gone to bed. I was also able to pause, try out the techniques I was learning, and press play when I was ready. Lou explained everything really well so I was able to have a go at making my own coiled petals and honeycomb petals, which could then be turned into a ring.

I tried both techniques but found the honeycomb petals easier than the coiled ones. I love the idea of quilling but it’s definitely a craft that you need to practice with until you get to grips with holding the coiled paper in place whilst it dries and forming the shapes you want.

Craft Drops is a great way to try a new craft. I love the fact there is someone to help you if you need help and love the idea of a generous sized box of craft being delivered to my door every month. A monthly subscription costs £22 which includes p&p. Find out more on the Crafty Drops website.

I’ve always loved the idea of getting into crafts but have no time. This looks like a lovely sub’ box!
