Sometimes I’m not sure if we should celebrate St Patrick’s Day in our crafting or not. We have an Irish surname but no real connection to Ireland. But then I think that my children are taught every Saints Day at school so why shouldn’t we do something at home too.

We’ve had quite a lot of fun with St Patrick’s Day crafts before which you can see here. Today we’re going to add our air-drying clay fingerprint shamrock craft for kids to them.

We divided a pack of air drying clay in to two equal parts so both children could have some clay to craft with.

They took it it turns to roll it out and pressed the four leaf clover shaped cookie cutter into the clay. We placed the shapes to dry on a piece of baking parchment on a baking tray. I pierced the top of each shape with a metal skewer so we could hang them up when they had dried.

Just before we left our shapes to dry overnight the children pressed their fingers into each of the four leaves of the clover shape.

We checked the shapes the next day to make sure they were completely dry.

The final step was to paint each shape with green paint to make the finger print obvious. We’re going to hang them up on our peg board so we can see them. They make for a cute St Patrick’s Day craft.
