    Disclosure – this is a collaborative post In the age of smartphones, many of us have abandoned our old cameras in favour of the convenience and immediacy offered by these pocket-sized devices – even the kids have cameras. However, if you’re one of the many people with a forgotten camera collecting dust in a cupboard, you may be wondering if it still has any value. DIY Sylvanian Families snow globe

    I spent a very happy morning Christmas shopping yesterday. I love having the time to do shopping early, it makes a huge difference if I can make lists and cross off everything as I do it. Getting my Christmas shopping done also means more crafting time which makes me extra happy! Recently I bought a huge bundle of vintage Sylvanian Families figures. My daughter loves Sylvanian Families and I thought it would be fun to craft with them. My daughter and I made our own snow globe and today we’re going to show you how we did it. Equipment to…

    How to use vintage iron on transfers

    My 5 year old loves Sylvanian Families and when I was looking for vintage SF things on eBay I came across a set of transfers from an old issue of Prima magazine from June 1990. I’d been looking for some Sylvanian Families t-shirts for a while but couldn’t find any so this seemed like the next best thing – the perfect way to make my own! The listing for the vintage transfers had ended but I managed to find another set on eBay. They were part of a bundle of vintage magazines and embroidery patterns. They arrived this week and…

With the end of term fast approaching some of these items could easily be made as handmade thank you gifts for teachers too. Here are 9 ways to re-use Scrabble tiles or things to make inspired by Scrabble tiles: Personalised Scrabble wall art Scrabble tile Father’s Day coaster Scrabble tile badges DIY Scrabble tile dishwasher magnet  DIY magnetic Scrabble board…

    Upcycled jigsaw puzzle magnets {A-Z Play at Home}

    Each week I’ve been taking part in the A-Z Play at Home blog hop. This weeks’ letter was J and for once I kew exactly what to make. My children love spotting birds in our little back garden. We have quite a large tree which we’ve hung with bird feeders and the children love nothing better than sitting at the table and spotting the birds. Over the last few weeks we’ve seen robins, starlings, blue tits and goldfinches. We invested in a pair of binoculars so we could easily see them. Upcycled jigsaw puzzle magnets We have a gorgeous vintage…

    Vintage bird jigsaw {charity shopping for me}

    It’s been a while since I shared a vintage find here. I still love charity shopping but as my children get older (and there is no more room for toys!), I’m able to focus on the things I want for myself a bit more. I love vintage games as they are fun to craft with. I have more than enough Scrabble sets but I couldn’t resist a sweet vintage Waddingtons Birds Spelling Pictures jigsaw I found. I absolutely loved the birdy theme (very on trend for Autumn) so snapped it up. I bought it without seeing inside but I thought…

    Monday Happy List – Week 88

    Not only are we celebrating our second Bank Holiday in May but it’s also half term! We’re so happy to be enjoying a few days away from home. The weather has been beautiful so we’ve made the most of being out all day long. I love re-visiting places I enjoyed as a child and we had a great day at Carisbrooke Castle. Due to the school holidays they were celebrating the Cavaliers and Roundheads all week and there were loads of events we could join in with. Our favourites were taking part in the Pike Drill and learning about the Battle of…

    Personalised Scrabble wall art

    Now this is one of those projects which has been sitting around waiting to be finished for ages. I love crafting with Scrabble tiles. I pick up vintage Scrabble sets whenever I see them, the kids love making words with the letter tiles and I have hundreds of them around. So I thought it was about time I made something with them. Have you seen the cute vintage travel Scrabble sets? They come with a type of peg board so the letter tiles can be slotted into the board and not move around. Well we’ve had one out for ages.…

    How to make a cover for a drop-in seat pad

    A couple of year ago I fell in love with a vintage Lloyd Loom nursing chair and bought it. There was the slight matter that I bought it in Devon and we lived in London, but my husband kindly squeezed it into our little car. I bought it for my son’s room and covered it with a cute Cath Kidston print. Roll on a couple of years and it made it’s way into my daughters’ room. I’ve been meaning to change the cover for ages but never got round to it – until this weekend! Yes, I finally made a…
