    Lovebug Valentine glasses

The children were sent a lovely parcel of craft kits from Baker Ross last week. Of course they immediately wanted to make everything but they decided on Lovebug Valentine glasses. Did you know Lovebugs can be quite destructive little creatures (just take a look at this article on Wikipedia) so I’m glad the foam stickers we used are colourful and good looking! Valentine calm down jar

My 3 year old has a tendency to stamp her foot and shout “I’m not happy” when she’s not getting her own way. Sometimes both my children need to take a step back. My Pinterest boards are full of calm down jars and I thought they looked fun to make and worth a try. This is kid-friendly, a great activity for re-using old glass jars and the other art supplies for kids are easily available. Materials needed to make a Valentine calm down jar: Red glitter glue Empty jar with the label removed Warm water Selection of heart shaped buttons…

    Easy Valentine cracker

Last week an exciting packet of craft supplies landed on my doormat from Bostik. I didn’t know they made glue and sticky foam pads but they do, and I was sent some to try out. They also sent some sparkly red felt, red and white card, and asked me to make something for Valentines Day. I thought I would make a fun little treat for my children so whipped up some easy Valentine crackers. Here’s how I did it: First of all I bought some tubes of Love Hearts, and cut a piece of the red felt long enough to…

    Handmade Valentine wrapping paper

Along with our handmade Valentine’s Day cards I thought it would be fun to make our own wrapping paper too. I love using brown paper as it is so easy to personalise with washi tape, stickers or paint. I saw packs of heart stickers in my local Tiger store, which is where I buy most of my craft supplies. I knew these would be perfect to make our own paper to wrap our Valentine’s Day gift. Valentine sun catchers

We love making sun catchers. Our sitting room faces south which means we get a lot of lovely sun light on the window – perfect for handmade sun catchers! After the success of the ones we made last year we thought we’d make some for Valentines Day too. Easy Valentine sun catchers You will need: card, scissors, coloured pieces of cellophane (we used sweetie wrappers), sticky tape and bakers twine. We drew round cookie cutters to make heart and circles shapes.  This meant they were all the same shape and size. Then we carefully cut out the middle of each…

Valentine’s Day gingerbread house (Ikea Pepparkaka Hus)

Last year it was all about the felt, this year it’s all about the edible gingerbread house! I had an Ikea Pepparkaka Hus which I had bought to make over Christmas and never got round to building so it seemed like a good time to make it and decorate it for Valentine’s Day. The kit contains ready baked and stamped house pieces – front and back, two sides, two roof pieces, four small pieces to make a chimney and printed instructions. It doesn’t contain any icing or sweets to decorate but the instructions helpfully contain a recipe for icing. The…
