    Monday happy things

Happy Bank Holiday Monday everyone. My son goes back to school this week so we have been making the most of the holidays. My Monday happy things this week are: Tomorrow we are taking part in a fun Bob the Builder Twitter frenzy from 6.30am until 7.45am. Bob the Builder has been given his biggest re-vamp in the show’s history with a modern look and feel and the new CGI-animated series is launching on Channel 5’s Milkshake from tomorrow (1st September 2015) at 7.20am. Follow the #Bobthebuilderon5 to join in the fun and for your chance to win some fab…

    Motivational felt banner

I hope you’re not bored of reading about my little banners yet? I can’t help making them as they are just so satisfying and fun! Every couple of weeks I like to sign up for a craft swap to ensure I’m making things and being creative. The latest swap I took part in was the Handmade Gift Exchange from Craftaholics Anonymous. I’ve taken part a few times and made and received some lovely handmade gifts. I exchanged a few emails with my partner and we decided to make each other banners. I knew I wanted to make a motivational felt…

    Monthly Makes – March

You may be surprised to hear that the patchwork part of my Union flag quilt is nearly finished. I know I said I was going to put it aside this month to concentrate on some other sewing projects but I really enjoy working on it. I ran out of hexagons so have been making a few each evening and trying to think about how I want to finish it off. I ordered the backing fabric from Elephant in my Handbag which is actually a Nautical Pink Pirate Bundle by Dear Stella. The fabrics feature small anchors, Jolly Rogers and a…

    Monday happy things

Yesterday we spent the day at Wendover Forest with some friends. We had fun exploring the new Superworm Trail, enjoyed den building and our first picnic of the year (outside of the car!). I love the new print of Alexandra Palace by Georgina Westley I received for my birthday. We used to live near Ally Pally and I could see it every day. I’ve been making some Scrabble tile art for my dish washer – Clean/Dirty Scrabble dishwasher magnets – a tutorial will follow soon. I was sent an ActiviTea portable tea flask to review and it came with us…

    Monday happy things

Last week was a lot of fun and I cut back on my blogging and felt really creative for a change. I completed a little wall hanging that’s been half finished for months. Years ago I made really small EPP hexagons with no real idea of what I was going to do with them. I decided to stitch them to a piece of linen and hang them on my Quilt Gallery Wall. My new Cath Kidston iPhone 6 Plus case which was a gift for Mother’s Day. The pattern is called Paradise Fields and I love it. image credit A…

    Monthly makes – September

September was a pretty busy month for making things. Aside from crafting with the children, which happens pretty much every day, there was also some baking with carrot cakes and a lovely Victoria sponge. There was the finishing off of WIPs and making a start on handmade gifts for Christmas so I thought I would write about my Monthly Makes. The month started with the London-themed ATC I made for a swap. I embroidered a London bus (from a pattern in Annela Hoey’s Little Stitches). I received a lovely ATC from my partner, she created a sandcastle and used a…

    Reasons to be cheerful

I can’t quite believe it’s a week since my last Reasons to be cheerful post but we’ve been really busy and lots of stuff is going on: I’m hoping we might have made progress with Little Sis and her colic and reflux problems. Our house looks like a dispensary with all the different products we’ve been trying. Lots of people have offered advice which I’m grateful for. We’re having a good old de-clutter. You might think this is a strange thing to be happy about  but with so little free time to keep on top of the household chores the…

    Felt gingerbread love

‘Tis finally the season to be jolly which means I’ve been snapping up everything gingerbread to show you over the next couple of weeks. My energy levels are disappearing but I have a few swaps to honour before the arrival of Second Baby. This week I’ve been making a new type of gingerbread house for one swap partner, very simple with a red and white bead hanger and a metal heart on the door. I’m hoping my crafting mojo will return soon. I’ve been struggling to pull out my sewing basket after Edward has gone to bed yet there are…

Day Zero – Month 8 (May)

It’s that time of the month when I need to sit down and see how my Day Zero progress is going. It’s been a really busy but productive month. 14. Complete a 365 day photo challenge Our baby blog has now been updated for 14 months. It was originally started by my husband to record Edward’s first days and I wondered how we would have time to keep up with it! When my husband was hospitalised I used it as a way of making sure he didn’t miss out on how Edward was growing and I’ve managed to post every…
