How to make a simple cable reel blackboard

A few weeks ago I shared a recent upcycle of a wooden cable reel. We turned it into a fairy house for the children to play with. We actually picked up two cable reels so today I’m going to show you what we did with the other. Cable reels are great and there are so many ways to upcycle them. My children love to use chalk to draw on the patio and walls so I made them a cable reel blackboard – perfect for mark making outside. We used: Rustoleum Chalkboard Paint (Old School Green) Wooden cable reel Smooth pebbles…

Valentine heart stone craft for kids

We are excited to work with Bostik again this year to produce some family friendly crafts. We are huge fans of Bostik products and today we’re sharing a really fun Valentine craft. We were sent a wonderful box of craft products including Bostik White Glu and Glu Dots. These products are staple for our craft cupboard and are so useful. The Art of Stone Painting book review

We love crafting with stones. They are easy to get hold of, a very tactile material and pretty easy to re-use again and again. I was pretty excited when I heard about  a new book called The Art of Stone Painting. I’ve seen some lovely stone crafts on Pinterest and wanted to find out more about creating them myself. This books aims to help you transform ordinary stones into colourful works of art with this easy-to-follow guide. The Art of Stone…

    Painted pebble cactus plants

I’ve been having lots of fun crafting recently, I know I always say that but this is supposed to be a craft blog. I love looking through my photo stream and seeing the photos of all my makes. My children have been keeping me busy lately but I still found time to make some painted pebble cactus plants with them. I would love to keep some succulents but when I went to buy some I got a handful of needles. Instead I thought it would be fun to make some kid-friendly versions. My 5 year old helped me paint some…

    Painted stone fairy door

Little Sis loves princesses and fairies. As the children are spending so much time out doors at the moment I thought we could make a magical door so the fairies could come and visit us. This is a great nature craft. I don’t know about you but we seem to pick up flat stones where ever we go. I love to re-use them rather than let them sit around in glass jars. We’ve already used some to make Gruffalo story stones and we have a few more crafty projects up our sleeves. Painted stone fairy door materials: smooth, flat stones…
