    A rare day off

On Saturday I had a rare day off to attend Cybher. I enjoy blogging conferences, they’re a great opportunity to catch up with online friends and improve my blogging skills. I had a great day and it was wonderful being able to think of just myself for once. I think my handbag has been the lightest it’s ever been – just my oyster card, wallet and purse. The conference was good but it was just too tempting being in central London on my own. At lunchtime I made a run for the shops. I managed to pick up the latest…

How to make a simple crawling blanket

You may remember last year I attended the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally where I picked up some lovely fabric to make a crawling blanket for my second child. I didn’t know if the bump would be a boy or girl so I tried to pick neutral fabrics. I couldn’t resist london scene by etsuko furuya which literally leaped at me as I passed a stand selling fabric. As well as the main fabric I bought a lime fabric to back the blanket and purple to bind it together. The fabric is gorgeous! It features well-known London landmarks…

    Treats for your Jubilee party

Have you noticed that there are an increasing amount of special Jubilee limited editions food products? I felt compelled to purchase a few of my favourite brands and must admit I’ve even been keeping the wrappers for the children’s memory boxes! The Jubilee and Olympics are big events in their little lives and even though they are too young to remember, I want them to have some unusual souvenirs to look back on. There are no official branded jubilee products, and products are not allowed to feature pictures of the Queen. So, as well as the commemorative stamps and special…

    Help with moving house

We spent yet another weekend house hunting. Whilst at home we spend our evenings narrowing down an area we want to look round and make sure we can afford. Then we like to bookmark a couple of houses to look at when we’re out and about. There are a couple of apps we usually use on our iPhones and iPad as there are a growing number of apps available. Last weekend we used the new free FindaProperty.com property search app for the iPad, which provides a convenient search tool for those looking to buy, rent, let, sell or simply browse…

    Moving on

We’ve just had one of those weekends where nothing has really happened but we’ve spent a lot of money. I had a tooth out, we got an imprint of Little Sis’s hand and foot prints, a lovely lunch out, the weekly food shop, all pretty mundane really. What we should have been doing is getting ready to put our house on the market. There’s a whole list of things to be done around the house before we put it on the market, and being a traditional household we’ve split the chores according to our ability. Me – painting, cleaning and…

    Joolz Day at Soho House

The latest celebrity must-have looks like it will be the fabulous limited edition Joolz as chosen by Sienna Miller. Little Sis and I were invited to Soho House for the exciting reveal of two new editions of the Joolz travel system, the award winning Dutch brand (they’ve just been awarded a Gold Mother & Baby award for best travel system). When the email inviting us to see these new travel systems landed in my inbox I couldn’t wait to take a look – it’s not every day a launch is held at the exclusive Soho House. Little Sis and I…

    Alvin and the Chipmunks: ChipWrecked

Today we had a really special invitation to join Alvin and the Chipmunks aboard a fun-packed party cruise to celebrate the launch of the DVD and Triple Play Blu-ray release of Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. Big Brother is a huge fan of Alvin and the Chipmunks and was thrilled to meet them. As we cruised along the Thames as well as spotting all our favourite London landmarks we also got a chance to meet Alvin and the Chipmunks, play lots of party games, go on a treasure hunt, and watch the new film whilst munching popcorn! We had loads…

    Homes for London

I’m a proud Londoner and have lived all over the place since moving to London in 2001. I’ve lived south and north and even east! I’ve been lucky to live with friends, friends of friends and strangers who have become friends. My accommodation has ranged from damp basement flats in Tufnell Park, to roomy flats above an off licence in West Dulwich, a respectable house in Tooting, a tiny flat in Whitechapel,  a room in a house in Clapham Common and our first home in Dartmouth Park. Rent has always taken a huge portion of my wages and I found…

    A Capital clean up

Despite having lived in London for many years I wasn’t aware that for the last 5 years there has been an annual clean up in the capital! Over the next three months a series of clean up events designed to bring Londoners together to spruce up neglected areas of the city will be hosted as London gears up to host the Olympics this summer. Supported by actress Keeley Hawes (Ashes to Ashes and Upstairs Downstairs), the P&G Capital Clean-up will be taking place across London from March to June 2012 and an army of around 1,700  community champions is expected…
