Any one starting to worry how to keep the kids busy over the Summer holidays? I have to admit that panic is starting to kick in. I’ve booked quite a few things but that doesn’t stop me trying to come up with ideas for some of the days we’ll be spending at home. I love to have different days out, other than the park or cinema. Living on the edge of London we’re really lucky to be within easy reach of farms and countryside. I thought I would post a round up of some of our favourite farms to visit…

It’s been 2 weeks since our first camping trip, definitely time to share our adventure with you. My children have been part of our local District Scouts for the past 3 years. Both of them have camped out at our local Scout Hut and my son has been away camping. When we received an invitation to a Family Camp at Phasels Wood we jumped at the chance to experience camping together. Now I haven’t camped since school but we were excited to try camping as a family. We were camping at Phasels Wood Scout Campsite and Activity Centre about 30…

With the Summer holidays looming here in the UK I have everything crossed for lots of sunny days. I like my children to get plenty of fresh air as it really helps to tire them out. Nothing beats water play in the open air but there are actually very few places you can go near where we live in West London. I thought I would share our favourite places for outdoor swimming or water play in west London. Places for outdoor swimming or water play in west London Ruislip Lido Our favourite place was water play is Ruislip Lido in the London Borough…

Did you know that the Queen celebrates her birthday on the second Saturday in June? It’s a bit of a vague date as it’s not her real birthday. Her actual birthday is April 21st but her official one is later this month. To celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 92nd birthday we had fun with our London Guards craft stick activity. Let me show you them. We love living in London, especially when the sun is shining. It’s great to be a tourist in our own city and walk past our favourite landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace, Downing Street or the Houses of…

We are so lucky to have Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve and Ruislip Lido near where we live. The Lido gets pretty busy on a sunny weekend so we avoid going but it’s surrounded by ancient woodland which is the perfect place to escape to for a cool walk. We last visited a few weeks ago and were so happy to see the bluebells blooming. We headed for a walk around Park Wood. It had been raining a lot but thankfully there were lots of raised paths so we didn’t get too muddy. My children love the woods and it was…

Last week I told you how excited we were to go and see our first Disney on Ice show at the Wembley SSE Arena. Our whole family are big Disney fans so were really looking forward to trying something new and watching Disney On Ice Worlds of Enchantment. Yesterday we had a lovely morning at home, the sun was out for the first time and it was great to spend time in the garden. After lunch we headed into town as we wanted to go shopping at the London Designer Outlet before the show. We grabbed some bargains and stopped…

Argh, the children break up today! I still have blog posts to write, the house to clean, the food shopping to do and the spare room to get ready for my mum. We have all our birthday cards up and the house is full of balloons from my son’s birthday party at the weekend. Don’t worry if you have been caught unawares by the Easter holidays too. I’ve written a few blog posts which might just help: Easter treats on Netflix Family friendly Easter events in and around London Things to put in an Easter crate for kids How to…

Last week I took myself off to the V&A for the morning. I really wanted to go and see the Winnie the Pooh exhibition but unfortunately tickets had sold out for the day. My second choice was Ocean Liners which had just opened. I bought myself a ticket, with a hefty discount, thanks to my National Art Pass, and went right in. Ocean Liners: Speed and Style at the V&A I love visiting the V&A. They have some amazing exhibitions and I was really looking forward to seeing Ocean Liners. We went on a cruise a few years ago and…

This morning I popped into the West End to attend an exclusive unveiling of the NEW Lego floor at Hamleys, Regent Street. My children love Hamleys which is the largest and oldest toy shop in the world. Being slap bang in the middle of Regent Street means that Hamleys is usually super busy, especially at the weekend. Set over 7 floors it’s a really fun place to visit, especially for kids. As Lego celebrates it’s 60th anniversary this year it seems well-tiles for Hamleys to give it’s Lego area a makeover. We’ve visited the Lego area before but it was…
