I’ve mentioned before how fantastic the Isle of Wight is for charity shops. We’re fortunate we have family that live there so I have lots of opportunities to shop. Saturday was the Round the Island Yacht Race so we had an amazing view of the yachts heading round the Island. Ventnor is a great place to spend a couple of hours. It’s full of quirky vintage and charity shops, as well as the beautiful Art Deco Winter Gardens which holds the occasional sale where we picked up this gorgeous vintage wooden chair a couple of years ago. On the seventh day of Christmas we decided it was about time Edward met Father Christmas. Our local Isle of wight Steam Railway are running Santa Specials on certain weekends in December so we decided to have a family outing. Included in the price of the ticket was a trip on the steam train, mince pies and mulled wine, a magic show, bouncy castle and a trip to meet Father Christmas. Ventnor, Isle of Wight, originally uploaded by Jennifer Young. Spent the day dodging the showers in Ventnor, one of my favourite places. It is a small, largely unspoilt Victorian seaside town, full of quirky shops and twisted streets. We stopped for a coffee in this amazing pink building (the only way to describe it), and after a huge lunch at The Spyglass Inn, went for a stroll on the beach. I bought an old drawer of moveable type to clean up and fill with trinkets when we get home.
