As part of my role as a Morphy Richards Innovator I was sent the ‘Never Loses Suction Lift Away Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner’ to tell you about. I have to admit that vacuuming is never top of my to do list but with two messy children and two cats our house needs constant cleaning. The vacuum cleaner was easy to assemble out of the box and straightforward to use. It has a number of great features: The Never Loses Suction cyclone technology ensures constant pick-up performance The Lift Away canister gives you the flexibility to clean anywhere, perfect for awkward…

On average we spend 312 hours each year in our cars, yet cleaning our mobile home-from-home is one of the nation’s most-neglected chores, with a third of Brits only cleaning the inside of their car every six months or less! I was surprised to hear that men clean the inside of their car more than women – with almost half (48%) of men cleaning the interior at least once a month or more, compared to 37% of women. I was offered the loan of a team of Febrezers to come and clean our car ahead of spring cleaning season. However,…

Not long now until the big day so I’m beginning to draw up a mental check list for what to do next. The personalised cards have been signed and sent, the presents wrapped and delivered, the decorations taken out of the loft and we’ve all come down with colds and a stomach bug. Bah humbug! I have to admit my Christmas spirit is flagging slightly but I’m hoping we’ll all be feeling better soon as there’s still so much to do. Top of my list (when I feel like it) is the Christmas food shop. It always fills me with…

I’m the first to admit that cleaning and housekeeping take a back seat in my household. I’d much rather spend time with the children than worry about the state of the house. I received an email which made me laugh! “To showcase how effective Viakal really is, we would love for you to put your feet up and let our team of bathroom-cleaning experts visit your home to give your bathroom a squeaky-clean finish! We’ll take care of everything – from scrubbing your bathroom taps to cleaning the dreaded toilet.” Living in London our bathrooms suffer from limescale, which is…

Are you one of the 1 in 10 British women who have admitted to intentionally ruining one of their partner’s items of clothes just because they didn’t like it? It’s not just women, apparently a quarter of British men and women frequently ask their partners to change their outfits because they’re embarrassed to be seen with them! I must be lucky as my husband’s wardrobe doesn’t make me cringe. I love this advert from Ariel about a woman and her golf-mad husband. Can you empathise? Ariel asked me to go under cover and put their theory to the test. I…

Before children I know my washing basket didn’t overflow, it was easy to keep on top of. After children, the machine is on every day and dirty washing permanently seems to cascade out of the washing basket and over the floor. I must have the dirtiest children as it doesn’t seem to matter what they do, their clothes are always grubby and need changing after every meal or activity. This means our poor old washing machine sees a lot of use. Just take a look: Eating – 3 messy meals a day Baking and decorating cupcakes (and tasting too!) Painting…

I’m so glad we’re back in our ‘normal’ routine – as normal as life can be with a baby and toddler. The little man is back at his school twice a week which means I get a couple of hours with the baby. We’ve just started going to a weekly music class and it is lovely doing something together and getting out of the house. However the end of summer means getting back to our plans of moving. We’re doing all those small jobs around the house which we’ve ignored since moving in 5 years ago. We’ve replaced the broken…

Tots100 and Ratedpeople.com have challenged us to makeover a room in the most creative way we can think of. The timing is perfect, given as how I have moaned before about our lack of space. Our 10 month old still sleeps with us and I haven’t enjoyed sleeping through the night since she was born. So, our plan. Our front bedroom was originally two bedrooms but converted to one when the loft was converted and a staircase put in. My husband works from home so the room is his office and our guest bedroom. We would like to turn…

It was a sad day when I realised that my duties as a stay at home mum would not only include sole responsibility of the children, but also the cooking, cleaning, food shopping, meal planning, washing, toy tidying and general care and maintenance of the house. My husband is a very busy man. Cleaning really is the bane of my life and I always need plenty of warning before friends visit so I can make sure the house is spotless. I’m lazy but house proud. With two children it’s pretty hard to keep on top of the mess as I…
