    Monday happy things

What a busy week and weekend! It’s lovely to sit down and take 5 minutes to remember the things which made me smile last week. We enjoyed an amazing meal at Strada at Riverside (More London) on Saturday. We had the best table in the house and were able to enjoy a delicious lunch with a view encompassing HMS Belfast to the Tower of London and London Bridge. I will be writing a full post about our experience this week but let me leave you with this image of our Burrata & prosciutto starter until then. We spent yesterday spotting…

Jenny Makes Mollie Makes wall hanging loom kit

Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kit. But no more! I’ve been trying out the kits, learning new skills or using them to create something new – and having fun in the process! Jenny Makes Mollie Makes wall hanging loom kit Mollie Makes issue 58 included a Mollie Makes wall hanging loom kit. The kit included a laser cut loom and shuttle, three colours of yarn, a plastic needle and cotton. I tied the cotton around the teeth of…

    Monday happy things

After a busy weekend it’s so lovely to sit and take stock of the last week.My 5 Monday happy things post is my favourite post of the week. I framed the horoscope papercut I made at the Handmade Fair in a simple glass frame which looks great but was impossible to photograph! It currently has pride of place on my mantelpiece although my children are itching to cover it in Halloween decorations. I enjoyed a delicious Gingerbread cupcake from our local farmers market My son discovered a pad of sticky notes and quickly used up a whole pad. I did…

A day at The Handmade Fair

Today my sister and I spent a day at The Handmade Fair at Hampton Court. We had been looking forward to it for ages as it was a strictly *mums only* event, the children were left at home with daddy for the day. The sun shone and we headed to Hampton Court for our day of crafting and shopping. Our tickets included a Grand Make, Skills Workshop and a Super Theater session. Our first event was a Grand Make and we had chose Tibetan Poetry Bunting. We were given a ready made prayer flag and craft supplies to embellish it.…

Jenny Makes Mollie Makes crochet charms bracelet

Do you ever look at a craft project and put it off for no reason? I’ve been stuck in a bit of a rut lately and am finding it so difficult to pick up any craft projects. Last night I finally took the latest Mollie Makes cover gift, a crochet charms bracelet kit, out of its packet. Jenny Makes Mollie Makes crochet charms bracelet Now everyone knows I can’t crochet so I feel a little sad when I see beautiful crochet projects everywhere. However, part of the fun of being creative is re-imagining things so I took the contents and…

Jenny Makes Mollie Makes Sparkly Fruit Brooches

Jenny Makes Mollie Makes Sparkly Fruit Brooches The Mollie Makes Sparkly Fruit Brooches kit contained: 4 pieces of faux leather 8 gold circular gems 5 black teardrop gems 2 metal brooch backs I supplied the double sided tape and glue.   I cut out the templates from Mollie Makes…

    Union Jack flag quilt

My goal for the first half of this year was to complete the Union flag quilt. A couple of days late but I’m pleased to say this weekend I went to Quilt Camp, otherwise known as my mum’s house, and finished it. I fell in love with the pattern as soon as I saw it in Hexa-Go-Go: English Paper Piecing 16 Quilt Projects by Tacha Bruecher. Union Jack flag quilt I really enjoyed collecting the red, white and blue fabrics for it and picked it up every couple of weeks. My progress was slow but last month I finished piecing…

    June Stocking Box reveal

I adore receiving snail mail, not the brown envelope kind, but the little box of monthly loveliness otherwise known as subscription boxes. Last week I received the June Stocking Box which I have been looking forward to sharing with you. The idea behind Stocking Box is a subscription box full of handmade goodies – a Christmas stocking every month! The June box contained all the goodies below wrapped in tissue paper so it was really exciting to look through. There was also a little booklet with information about each artist. I think my favourite item was the gorgeous Garden Birds…

    How to … dipped feathers

It can’t have escaped your notice that feathers are everywhere at the moment. What’s not to love about them? They are soft, pretty, make great table decorations, and are a fun accessory in a kid’s headdress. My daughter has been collecting them whenever she sees them but you can also buy them and we have a colourful selection from Hobbycraft. This week we’ve been spending a lot of time decorating our tipi. The weather has been unbelievably hot so the children have been enjoying playing outside. I wanted to make a dipped feather garland to decorate it and it turned…
