    Umbrella paper plate sun catcher craft for kids {A-Z Play at Home}

    I can’t believe we’re already at the letter U in our weekly A-Z Play at Home blog hop. The letter U was an easy one for me as the weather is very autumnal and I’ve been carrying an umbrella with me at all times! Today I’m sharing our super sweet umbrella paper plate craft for kids. We used: paper plates contact paper coloured cellophane sheets scissors I drew the outline of an umbrella on the paper plate, making sure there was a generous edge around it. I cut it out and we covered one side with contact paper. Then my…

    Crafts to celebrate the Autumn Equinox

    Well it doesn’t seem that long since we celebrated Spring Equinox but somehow it’s already time to start thinking about and celebrating the Autumn Equinox, which takes place on the 22nd September. The Autumn Equinox marks the end of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the official first day of Autumn. I love the transition to Autumn. We’ve been noticing the signs for weeks and everything seemed to come early this year. We were picking the first blackberries at the beginning of August and the children collect conkers on the school run every day. Autumn makes me think of cosy…

    Halloween hand painted rock monsters

    My children are all about painted rocks at the moment. It’s the latest craze and they are fully embracing it! Have you heard about painted rocks? It’s quite simple, people are decorating and hiding painted rocks! This is great fun for adults and children, and pretty cheap too. I recently bought a big bag of smooth pebbles from our local garden centre. These are perfect for creating story stones but also for crafting painted stones. Halloween hand painted rock monsters With Halloween coming up we wanted to create Halloween themed painted rocks. I’ve seen some awesome pumpkin painted rocks on…

    Star Wars Story Stones {A-Z Play at Home}

    Now the children are back at school I have started to get some play prompts ready for them when they get home. The first few days they just wanted to play on the PS4 or watch YouTube. In understand they’re tired but I really don’t want them to get in the habit of switching on and zoning out. My 7 year old loves to create, I guess that’s why he loves Minecraft, so I left out some smooth stones and Posca pens. These are great for drawing on almost any surface and we use them quite a lot. My son…

    Stitching {Summer Craftpod Sub Box}

    It’s been a while since I tried a subscription box just for me. I suppose I haven’t really found any that I’ve wanted to try regularly. But when I received an email about the Summer Craftpod box I immediately signed up as it was all about cacti and moths! You can read what I thought about the Spring Craftpod box here. I find it hard to make time for me but a Craftpod box landing on my doormat immediately makes me shut my laptop and get making. Summer Craftpod Sub Box The Craftpod is a lovely subscription box. Inside the…

    10 Back to School traditions {to start now!}

    Is it just me or is there a lot to buy in order to get everyone back to school in September? The school uniform, shoes and stationery is bought so my thoughts have been turning to how to commemorate the first day back at school. When my children started school we started our own traditions. In previous years I’ve taken lots of photos of my children looking all sparkly and clean. Last year we used our lightbox to record the date too. There are lots of ways to commemorate the first day of term. Here are 10 back to school…

    Duck Tape watermelon school supplies

    I love crafting with Duck Tape and the transition to back to school seems like a pretty good time to have some fun with Duck Tape. We have a huge stash so I was just able to raid my supplies for this quick and easy DIY. Both my kids are crazy about watermelons at the moment, they would eat them all the time if they could. My youngest enjoyed making a paper plate watermelon so this time I whipped up some school supplies for my eldest. He’s starting a new school on Tuesday so I thought he would enjoy a…

    Q tip blackberries craft

    I can’t believe we’ve reached the letter Q in our weekly A-Z Play at Home blog hop already. It took me a while to think of a fun craft or activity around the letter Q and eventually I picked Q tips or cotton buds – the ones that are used for cleaning ears. It’s something every home has and I’m sure has lots of crafting possibilities. For our Q tip blackberries craft we used: Q tips an elastic band white card black/purple/green paint We recently picked a load of blackberries and made them into a delicious apple and blackberry pie.…
