This year we are trying to not buy any new decorations but rather use what we have. Last year we added some pretty crochet mistletoe to our decorations and I thought I would share a tutorial for easy crochet stars. These are so much fun to crochet and would look amazing hanging on a Christmas tree. Crochet stars supplies: Yarn – medium or medium-light Crochet hook – 2.5 mm or 23 mm Scissors Tapestry needle Easy crochet stars instructions: Start with a magic ring. To make a magic ring, you can use your 2 fingers to create a double loop…

A few years ago I received the very sweet Merry and Bright mini quilt kit. This kit was from Pretty Fabrics and Trims who design the sweetest embroidery kits. Earlier this year you may remember I finished the Summer Sampler mini quilt, I started the ‘Cottage Garden Huswif’ kit (and put it away again) and then made a start on my Christmas crafting. Merry and Bright mini quilt {Part 1} This festive mini quilt, a little sampler of sorts, includes all my favourite things – Machine Piecing, Appliqué, Embroidery, English Paper Piecing (EPP) and Hand Quilting. First of all I…

I love little projects I can whip up in an hour. They satisfy my need to make something and often result in something useful and pretty too. My stash of Liberty fabrics always sits on my desk and I love to use it in my crafting. I chose a piece of pretty pink floral Liberty fabric Tana Lawn Capel S to make this sweet Liberty floral key fob. You will need: One piece of floral fabric 5cm x 21.5cm One piece of felt 4cm x 20cm One metal key fob One metal key ring Needle and thread or sewing machine…

Did you know that the BBC is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2022? The BBC started its first daily radio service in London in 1922, it only broadcast for a few hours, mainly news and ‘talks’. The BBC is a national institution here in the UK, but what exactly is it? It’s both impartial and independent, and every day creates distinctive, world-class programmes and content which inform, educate and entertain millions of people in the UK and around the world. Growing up with only 4 tv stations I’ve always enjoyed BBC programmes on the radio and television. There’s so much…

As soon as the kids went back to school I couldn’t help thinking how to bring some Autumn vibes into our house. I found some sweet Autumnal candles in Primark which I bought and squirreled away for a few weeks. Now we’re in October I feel like I can bring out my pumpkin candles, and we have conkers and acorns which the kids have picked up on our walks. Making Autumn decor with the Autumn Craftpod I love my makes to be seasonal. We’ve made delicious gingerbread biscuits and I was delighted when my Autumn Craftpod box landed on the…

For the last few weeks I’ve been stitching the Eva Verbruggen tapestry project from my latest Hoop Club subscription box. I find embroidery kits really hit and miss. Sometimes I love them and stitch then straight away, other times I just squirrel them away in my craft cupboard. However, I love to try different types of crafts so was excited to try the tapestry hoop project. Floral tapestry embroidery hoop The tapestry kit included the pre-printed fabric panel, selection of tapestry threads, wooden hoop and needle. The wool colours were really pretty and it was fun to sew with wool…

We are so excited to celebrate Halloween next month. The shops are full of Halloween decor and we have been busy planning a Halloween costume for our pup to wear when we go Trick or Treating. I am excited to start watching Halloween films with the kids, especially Hocus Pocus 2 which comes out soon. We recently re-watched Hocus Pocus which inspired our Hocus Pocus Mason Jar Craft which features the quotation “Oh look, another glorious morning, makes me sick”. Time: 45 Minutes Materials: 1 sheet white vinyl oracal 1 sheet transfer tape Cricut machine Blue Cricut mat Cricut weeding…

I’m not the biggest fan of the art of cross stitch. Cross stitch is a form of counted thread embroidery which involves an x stitch on fabric with an even and open weave like Aida. Some people think it’s the simplest form of embroidery, but I actually find it quite hard to find the right place for my needle! Thankfully it is easy to see where you’ve gone wrong and unpick a stitch or two. Anyway, when I saw that Cotton Clara had produced a gingerbread house cross stitch kit I bought myself one. I love anything related to gingerbread…

Last week we were away in the Netherlands which must be one of the child-friendly countries we’ve ever visited. In fact, we love the Netherlands so much it was our third visit with kids! I made sure to pack a few small sewing projects in case there was any free time – there wasn’t very much! Before we left I finished the felt waterlily pincushion from the Summer Craftpod box. This is one of my favourite subscription boxes, it’s sent every season and is always great fun to stitch. Each box contains two craft projects and this one contained a…
