Last weekend we visited the Nutcracker Trail at Cliveden where scenes from the Nutcracker have been brought to life. Cliveden is one of our local National Trust properties although we hadn’t visited for a while. We wanted to visit the Nutcracker trail, and also get our Pooch Passport stamped (we really want to complete it this winter!). Nutcracker Trail at Cliveden The Nutcracker Trail at Cliveden is a special festive trail and open from the 15th November to the 4th January 2026. The trail is free/included in the price of your ticket. We couldn’t find a paper map of the…

If you are looking for a wet weather activity for teens then I would recommend indoor go karting. My teens love go karting and we thought we would try the new track at Teamsport High Wycombe. This wasn’t the easiest venue to find inside the Eden Centre, but once we had walked around the shopping centre for a while we found it and booked in. Go Karting at Teamsport High Wycombe We’ve been indoor and outdoor go karting quite a few times, most recently to the Teamsport track at Watford. The High Wycombe venue feels similar, we were given overalls…

In January we combined a trip to Milton Keynes to see the Vanessa Bell exhibition with a trip to The National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park. We spotted the museum on a visit to Bletchley Park back in 2019 and promised we would return one day. The National Museum of Computing with teenagers At The National Museum of Computing you can immerse yourself in the evolution of computing from the pioneering efforts of the 1940s to the rise of personal computing in the 1980s and beyond. Both my kids love their tech so I thought they would enjoy a…

It’s a family tradition that each year we take the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt at a National Trust property. Over the years we’ve had some amazing days out, today we were reminiscing about some of our favourites which involved Cadbury’s and the National Trust. They don’t seem to sponsor their Easter Egg Trails any more but we decided to head to our local National Trust property to see what they had to offer this Easter. Easter Egg Hunt at Hughenden We’re big fans of Hughenden Manor, which is our local National Trust house and gardens. It’s very dog-friendly…

A few weeks ago we managed to book tickets to visit Chenies Manor and Gardens in Buckinghamshire. This was a place we had wanted to visit for a while, so booked tickets for their special open gardens. Chenies Manor is a gorgeous Grade 1 Tudor mansion house with lovely gardens. Exploring Chenies Manor and Gardens We pre-booked our tickets and drove the short distance to Chenies in Buckinghamshire. The village of Chenies is very picturesque and you drive right past the front of the house to get to the car park. The House is currently closed but we were able…

We are so excited to be able to plan family days out again. We have missed our days out and although we have been out every day, the walks began to get slightly boring. Even with our little pup adventure walks and bikes and scooters, it has been hard keeping the kids entertained. So what did we book for our first day out since places re-opened? We booked a slot at Bekonscot Model Village and Railway which is just 20 minutes away. It’s a place we visited when the kids were younger and we wanted to visit again before they…

I really enjoy sharing some of the places we visit as a family. Since getting our dog last year we’ve explored lots of new places near to where we live on the outskirts of London. We’re really lucky to be close enough to London to go in when we want, but also have beautiful countryside at the end of our road. Last weekend we went for a walk through Black Park Country Park in Buckinghamshire. Black Park is just off the A412, in close proximity to Langley Park and the Pick Your Own Farm at Iver. Black Park Country Park…

Winter adventures seem a little slim on the ground at the moment. With so many events cancelled this year and everything else booked up we feel a little limited with our outdoor winter adventures. Thankfully we managed to get tickets to Hughenden Manor, one of our favourite National Trust days out, where we were able to explore the delightful Peter Rabbit Trail. Peter Rabbit winter adventure activity trail If you are looking for something fun to do outdoors with the kids then the good news is Peter Rabbit Trails are available at many National Trust properties this winter. You will…

Thanks to a second lockdown we have been back to exploring our local area again. Thankfully we are on the outskirts of London so are spoilt for places to explore which are suitable for our Bichon Frise puppy and two children. A few weeks ago we explored Northmoor Hill Local Nature Reserve in Denham. This is another of those places which is really close and we were happy to have discovered it. Northmoor Hill Local Nature Reserve Northmoor Hill Local Nature Reserve is part of the Colne Valley Regional Park and we’ve explored small pockets of it this year. There’s…
