Owl porcelain plate from Baker Ross

Owls are always popular on stationery and fabric so we were delighted to be sent a box of 4 plain owl porcelain plates from Baker Ross to craft with. We previously received a set of their porcelain pens so we were able to decorate them straight away. The porcelain pens are easy to use, just give them a shake, take off the lid and press down gently to release the ink. The porcelain owl plates have pre-defined shapes on them which makes them easy to decorate, outlining owls and feathers. We found the ink ran slightly creating some interesting colour…

    Mini butterfly sun catchers

The Summer holidays have started now Big Brother has finished school. We’ve been enjoying lazy mornings and lots of crafting. Luckily we were sent some lovely craft kits from Baker Ross and the children really enjoyed the mini butterfly sun catchers. It contained 12 butterfly sun catchers of four different designs and some ribbon to hang them. We used our fine tip porcelain and glass pens to colour them and I put down a plastic splash mat to protect my table (both from Baker Ross). My children love to craft but I’m not always ready with ideas and materials for…

    Crafting with coloured sand

One thing I love about crafting with my children is the chance to try new craft activities with them. They are always keen to try anything and were pretty excited about a parcel of coloured sand products we received from Baker Ross. We received 6 bottles of Fluorescent Coloured Sand, plastic animal sand art bottles and sand picture sheets. First we made the Animal Sand Art bottles. The pack contained 6 different animals, each had a screw top, as well as a funnel. The children used the bottles of sand to create colourful layers. You can either pour or sprinkle…

Top tips for creating a Summer fairy garden

What is a fairy garden? It’s a miniature garden for fairies to live in. My 3 year loves Tinkerbell and after we had watched Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue we were inspired to make our own together. Since then we’ve made a couple, both temporary houses indoor and a few permanent fairy houses outside. Creating a fairy garden is a great activity that all the family can do together and is a great way to spend time enjoying the sunshine. The best thing is that they can be added to over time so why not start a fairy garden…

Recycled milk bottle watering cans for kids

We’re all really enjoying spending time out in the garden. Although we’ve been in our house for 2 years now progress on our garden has been slow. Our first priority was the children’s play house, giving them an area for their sand pit and water table, and planting some vegetables in our upcycled pallet planter. Over the weekend we had some fun making simple watering cans for the children to use. Recycled milk bottle watering cans for kids This was really simple but fun. I found a couple of empty milk bottles from the recycling box. I used my Dremel…
