Christmas crafts handmade tutorial

Brown paper packages tied up with string

This evening I’ve been playing around trying to pretty up some Christmas presents. I love wrapping my presents with simple brown paper but they are not always well received. I remember last year my father in law looking a little puzzled when I handed over our presents, he asked if we had run out of wrapping paper! This year I made sure to wrap his presents in the brightest Christmas paper I could find.

I wanted to re-visit my idea of simple brown paper for some gifts but I thought I would embellish them to show I’d put some effort in to it.

Equipment needed to make pretty brown paper packages:
Brown paper
paper doilies
coloured bakers twine
sellotape
glue stick
Brother handheld label printer

How to make brown paper packages:

Wrap your gifts in brown paper. Choose a colourful paper doily (I bought mine from Tiger) and glue onto the front of your parcel. I glued mine in the centre but off centre would look equally good.

Wrap a couple of lengths of bakers twine around your parcel and hold in place with sellotape on the back of the parcel.

Then play around with a label printer to add a personal message. These bring out the inner geek in me. The Brother P-touch H105 handheld label printer has some great auto designs which makes it easy to choose fun frames and icons to add to your message. I printed off a couple and played around until I was happy with the result.

Handheld label printers are ideal for labelling everything from leftovers in the freezer to files in the home office. They’re also a great alternative for labelling Christmas presents!

we went to see a tudor father christmas today (which I absolutely loved) when my girls were given their presents they were wrapped in brown paper tied with string. I wander if people realise that brown paper is actually probably more costly than normal wrapping paper.
I am thinking of getting my girls to do printing of some kind on the brown paper (bit late this year but defo for next year)

I love making our own wrapping paper. Lego bricks work really well!
