Christmas Family Life Hillingdon Local Review London

Boxing Day panto – Dick Whittington {Compass Theatre}

DK ProduKtions and London Borough of Hillingdon presents Dick Whittington 2016

Last Christmas we went to the pantomime with some friends which we all really enjoyed. It’s nice to get out of the house on Boxing Day and if it’s too cold for a walk then the panto seems like the next best thing. This year I was organised and booked us all tickets to see Dick Whittington at the Compass Theatre in Ickenham.

According to Wikipedia pantomime (informally panto), is a type of musical comedy stage production, designed for family entertainment. It was developed in England and is still performed throughout the United Kingdom, generally during the Christmas and New Year season.

This year’s purrrrfect pantomime paved with gold is the magical tale of Dick Whittington. Join Dick and his feline friend Tommy on his fun-filled quest for fame and fortune. Will he defeat the evil rats to win the hand of lovely Alice and be crowned Major of London?

The Compass Theatre is a lovely venue tucked away behind Ickenham Hall. It only has 158 seats so is the perfect, intimate size. We went along to the matinee and found it full with a lovely atmosphere. The pantomime was fun and very interactive. We shrunk back into our seats every time one of the cast came out into the audience but we joined in with all the songs and everything else! The children loved the production. They recognised some of the songs and enjoyed the animated scenery. It was definitely perfect for families and we found it the perfect Boxing Day treat.

    It sounds like such a lovely venue with just a few seats to make it feel all the more intimate x
