Don’t worry, I haven’t become a Beauty Blog (although there’s clearly nothing wrong with that). When an email dropped into my inbox about the Birchbox x Cath Kidston beauty subscription box I knew I was going to buy one. I’ve loved Cath Kidston for ages, although I have to admit I haven’t really enjoyed any of the new prints or patterns she’s brought out lately. It doesn’t stop me looking though and most of the Cath Kidston items I have around the house are brilliant quality and haven’t need replacing!
Birchbox x Cath Kidston
Did you know that Cath Kidston is celebrating it’s 25th birthday this year? This April, they’ve teamed up with Birchbox as part of their celebrations. Yay for fun collaborations! I’ve heard of Birchbox but never tried one before. In case you haven’t heard of it, Birchbox is a monthly subscription box for beauty and makeup products.
According to the email, each box would be adorned with Cath Kidston’s celebratory limited edition Birthday Rose print, and include Cath Kidston delicately scented floral hand cream – exclusive to Birchbox – as well as four other beauty treats tailored to your skin, hair and style.
I signed up and went through a quick process to determine which products I would receive, based on my skin and hair type. I thought this was a good idea as I didn’t want to receive useless products.
With the Cath Kidston email there was a code to get my first box for only £5 + £2.95 P+P which I thought was pretty good. I sat back, well went away on holiday, and came back to discover my Birchbox waiting. I left it a few days until my children had gone back to school to open it.
Inside was ModelCo Baked Highlighter, Beautaniq Beauty Fill + Tame Brow Gel, Cath Kidston Hand Cream, Beauty Protector Protect and Volume, and a Birchbox Brush Cleaner. I love the Cath Kidston Hand Cream and Beauty Protector Protect and Volume. The other products I’ll probably give to my 13 year old niece – she’s already worn more makeup than I have my entire life!
So what did I think of Birchbox? I really love the idea behind it. If I wore a lot of make up this would be a great way to try new products, especially as you can get a discount on the full sized products if you like them. However I don’t wear a lot of make up so I’ve cancelled my subscription for now. If there’s another amazing collaboration, I’m thinking Tatty Devine, then I will snap it up!
