Bath crayons and wet floors {bath time with kids]

I’ve mentioned a few times about our lovely new kitchen. It’s dragged on a little but we’ve had a final push this weekend, painted the ceiling and walls and tiled the floor. We’ve managed to squeeze in about 90% of everything and it’s lovely. It’s easy to get used to loose cupboard doors and cluttered surfaces but I’m really enjoying my new kitchen.

The only thing I had to compromise on was the kitchen sink. I really wanted a Belfast sink but my husband wanted a wooden worktop and for some reason it couldn’t be cut around the sink. At least we both agreed on the lovely new taps we both wanted.

I’m pleased to say we have also finished the bathroom upgrade. We’re lucky to have a bath and shower squeezed into our family bathroom – both essentials for a modern family. Am I allowed to admit I used to really hate bath time? It’s always painted as the most wonderful experience, when you can watch your child play in a bath surrounded by bubbles. The reality for me was very different. Although my children loved their bath time they always had a little too much fun, so that water and soap go everywhere. There was also the time they used some bath crayons to write rude words on the tiles. It was only after I tried to wipe the words off that I realised the bath crayons seemed to be semi-permanent. I had to look at the faint outlines of those rude words for months!

bath time fun

I couldn’t stand the mess and I practically had to clean the bathroom after every use! So bath time was always my husbands’ job as they seemed to listen to him more than me. Now they’re a little older they have showers more often. With all their after school clubs and activities it is so nice to be able to give them a quick shower before bed. A bath is reserved for when we have a little more time on our hands and want to calm them down before bed.

What’s your bathroom essential? Do you prefer a bath or shower. Feel free to share any bath time horror stories with me.
