I’m so excited to tell you that I’m a finalist in the Best Overall Blog category in the 2011 Gurgle Blog Awards! I’m not sure who nominated me but thank you so much. In case you haven’t heard of them before, the Gurgles celebrate the best mummy and daddy blogs and as a relatively new parent blogger I am just really happy to be nominated. There are some well known bloggers in my category so I don’t expect to win but as a finalist I do get the opportunity to have a rare night out, go to a swanky London…

I have a bit of a thing about changing bags. It might be something to do with having a boy but I feel a changing bag can brighten up our day as the buggy is black and let’s face it, my son doesn’t do pink. Pink Lining asked me if I would be interested in reviewing their latest product – the mum on the run pouch. Pink Lining Mum on The Run pouch The pouch arrived in a lovely Pink Lining branded box and wrapped in pink tissue paper. I love the fact that although it’s a practical item a…

A couple of weeks ago we were driving home through the streets of North London and I spotted a pile of wooden boxes by the side of a skip. I’m not sure what made us stop but we reversed back down the road and I got out to take a closer look. There was an old wooden tabletop file cabinet and a wooden crate. I’m not sure what the etiquette is regarding taking unwanted items from the roadside but as there was no-one around to ask we put both items in the car boot and went home. The crate didn’t…

It’s a big moment when your child progresses from their sleeping bag to bedding and I was delighted when we were asked if we wanted to review some bedding from baroo, who specialise in bedding for babies and toddlers as well as gorgeous Moses baskets. Natural gingham with fun stick giraffe character Fully reversible Toddler Bed/Cotbed Size: 150cm x 120cm Pillowcase Size: 60cm x 40cm. 100% Cotton Machine Washable The bedding looked lovely so I ripped off the packaging and quickly put…

Edward is a simple boy and at 16 months likes playing, eating and sleeping. Fortunately for him BigJigs sent him a farm house shape sorter to play with. This is a lovely wooden toy and Edward knew straight away what to do with it. Two of the slats on the roof come off so the wooden animals can be stored inside and the other two slats are angled forming a handle so it can be picked up easily by little hands. Around each side are shapes which the animals can be pushed through. Edward has had hours of fun with…

It’s a shame I can’t use the excuse of pregnancy but I have a sweet tooth. Yesterday I whipped up a batch of honey cupcakes and added some honeycomb for some extra crunch. *****Competition has now closed and the winner has been notified***** Shanta Everington is the author of ‘The Terrible Twos: A Parent’s Guide’ and she has just published her second book, ‘Baby’s First Year: A Parent’s Guide’, which has just been published (available from Amazon, Need2Know Books and all good bookstores). Shanta kindly agreed to answer some questions. What inspired you to write this book? When my son was born five years ago, like most new parents, I didn’t know what the hell I was supposed to be doing. I read a lot of parenting books but none of them really spoke…

Last year we went to our first family festival and had lots of fun. More and more festivals seem to be on every year and this year we are lucky to be going to A Jolly Day Out on Hampton Court Green. Jolly Day Out! is Hampton Court’s Summer Festival on Hampton Court Green from Friday 26th to Monday 29th August 2011. There’s plenty to do for the whole family. Edward will love the Zing Zillas, I’m going to enjoy the shopping and my husband will be sampling the food. With live music playing throughout each day, a fun fair,…
