According to research by Johnson’s, 70% of mums with children aged 0-3 months experience stretch marks (vs. 44% of the general population) and 53% of mums are concerned about their stretch marks. I can hold my hand up and say I have stretch marks, two pregnancies in two years didn’t give my poor skin much time to recover. I was very happy to try the new Johnson’s Skin Perfecting Oil which has been clinically proven to improve skin suppleness, helping to reduce the appearance of stretch marks in just 4 weeks. Unfortunately you can’t totally get rid of stretch marks…

This year I decided to help my son make me a Mother’s Day card. Is that bad? It probably won’t be the first or last time. It was pretty simple, based on Big Brothers hand print. Can you tell we love painting with our hands! We’ve turned his lovely hand print into a flower – spring is in the air after all! If you’re looking for somewhere special to take your mum this Mother’s Day take a look at my contribution to the Guoman Hotel’s blog where I share my favourite place for tea and cake in north London. Hope…

Vertbaudet kindly offered to send me some clothes for Little Sis to review. I didn’t need to be asked twice as I love dressing her up, boys clothes are so boring and practical! They sent us two outfits, perfect for the beautiful spring weather from their Spring/Summer collection. Both outfits were in pure breathable cotton which have washed and dried really well. Little Sis hates getting dressed so the press stud fastenings on the back are a really handy feature enabling quick dressing without any fuss. The sizing is also very generous which is good as LS is already quite…

I’m glad that gingerbread is no longer a seasonal food. Last week I spotted some mini gingerbread men in someone else’s shopping basket in M&S so made it my mission to try some too. Today was the lucky day and I grabbed a box whilst searching for something for dinner. The packs contain 12 mini gingerbread men and the branding is lovely and simple, similar to the Christmas tin of gingerbread biscuits I bought. The 12 mini gingerbread men are nicely packaged and delicious! As with most biscuits they didn’t last long once the packet was opened. I had a…

This year I’ll be celebrating my second Mother’s Day with my little family. I’m totally immersed in my little bubble of motherhood and enjoy every second, well, most of the time. My toddler has always made lots of noise but the one word I really wanted to hear was “mummy”. His first word was “daddy”, quickly followed by “nanny” and more and more words, none of which were “mummy”. Of course, when he did finally get round to saying it he didn’t stop! He often calls out “mummy”, especially when I’m not in the room, and will laugh when I…

I’m a proud Londoner and have lived all over the place since moving to London in 2001. I’ve lived south and north and even east! I’ve been lucky to live with friends, friends of friends and strangers who have become friends. My accommodation has ranged from damp basement flats in Tufnell Park, to roomy flats above an off licence in West Dulwich, a respectable house in Tooting, a tiny flat in Whitechapel, a room in a house in Clapham Common and our first home in Dartmouth Park. Rent has always taken a huge portion of my wages and I found…

Despite having lived in London for many years I wasn’t aware that for the last 5 years there has been an annual clean up in the capital! Over the next three months a series of clean up events designed to bring Londoners together to spruce up neglected areas of the city will be hosted as London gears up to host the Olympics this summer. Supported by actress Keeley Hawes (Ashes to Ashes and Upstairs Downstairs), the P&G Capital Clean-up will be taking place across London from March to June 2012 and an army of around 1,700 community champions is expected…

We love reading books which is why I wanted to tell you about The Book Club. The Book Club team currently reads around 700 books a month and reviews and categorises each one to make selecting books better for parents. Little Sis is just entering The Cooing Stage and I look forward to her brother entering The Explosive Stage! Join The Book Club and you will receive: weekly newsletters customised to your child’s learning age over 3000 recommended books and the cheapest…

I know I have a typical toddler. At 23 months he has a huge vocabulary and is starting to string words together. He understands most things I say but he gets frustrated easily when he can’t show or tell me what he wants. I’m really cross (with myself) that we stopped going to baby signing classes as it was fun and helped us communicate but Big Brother was bored in the classes and I, wrongly, assumed he would be talking soon. Roll on 6 months and his speech is coming along, but slowly. I wondered what else I could be…
