I’m not normally a huge fan of anything which is produced just for girls or just for boys. However, despite my 5 year old insisting she hates the colour pink, it doesn’t seem to stop her being drawn to the colour, wearing the colour, or loving anything pink! I guess she’s a little contrary but also a typical little 5 year old. We were recently sent the first two issues of a new magazine for girls, called Mixit. This is a brand new and totally unique multi-character magazine for girls aged 4-9 and I couldn’t wait to see what she thought…

My 7 year old loves Minecraft. It was the first computer game he played and he still plays it today. This is usually a reward for doing his homework and helping around the house. He likes nothing better than playing it with his Dad. I have to be honest and admit to not knowing how to play. My 5 year old plays too but my 7 year old has Minecraft books, toys and even clothes. It’s fair to say he is a huge fan. Minecraft Master Builder Toolkit We have received a few Minecraft books so I thought I would…

Our summer countdown has begun. The children have three days left at school and then we have 6 weeks without clubs, organised activities or the school run! No homework! No running the children from one thing to the next. Today I’m sharing my Summer beauty trends for 2017. I’m not kidding myself that 6 weeks will be easy but I can’t wait for a break from the normal routine. As much as we all thrive on routine it’s also nice to have a break. The summer holidays actually give me a much-needed chance to shake up my beauty regime. Being a…

It’s been a while since I shared a recipe on my blog. I started Slimming World a few months ago and haven’t really wanted the temptation that baking brings. However, last week I won a bottle of Gin and Tonic flavouring at the weekly raffle and it inspired some low fat baking. The Gin and Tonic flavouring is from Sainsbury’s and there’s a Prosecco one too (which I also won). They are Syn free and a fun way to add some interest to food and drinks. I made some Gin and Tonic lollies with them as well as these Gin…

The sun is shining. It’s the last week of term and I got paid for the job I did last month – just in time to get the fan belt replaced in my car. I can tell it’s going to be a good week so let’s get straight on to my weekly mindfulness post, about the 5 things which made me happy. Last week saw lots of milestones for both of my children. It’s lovely watching all their hard work be rewarded and they both gained their Yellow belt at karate. They’ve been going to karate for just over a…

Is it just me or are watermelons everywhere at the moment? My kids keep asking for them and they’ve been appearing at every picnic, birthday party or BBQ we go to. So it’s perhaps not surprising that watermelon have slipped into our crafting this week with this fun paper plate watermelon craft. We *love* crafting with paper plates and I think this is one of our favourites yet. I’m sure that I’m feeling like most parents right now – enjoying the feeling of life slowing down for the end of term next week. Life reached fever pitch just around the time my son took his Year 2 SATs and since them I have felt him slowly unwind, becoming the lovely happy boy I know him to be. I think it’s safe to say he has done little work at school this half term. Their Leavers Assembly seems to have taken a silly amount of the school day and they’ve had ‘Golden Time’ daily, rather than on the usual…

Earlier this year we enjoyed a day out exploring a little further afield than normal. We all love heritage railways so visited the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Aylesbury. It is a railway museum based at the old Quainton Road railway station, about 5 miles west of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. The site is divided into two halves which are joined by two foot-bridges. Each side has a demonstration line with various workshop buildings as well as museum buildings. It is a great place to visit with something always going on. When we arrived and bought our tickets we explored the glass-roofed visitor centre which is actually the…

We love crafting with paper plates and have had fun with paper plates recently. They are so easy to add to and embellish, and pretty cheap too, the perfect crafting material!
