competition Olympics

Amazing Olympians giveaway

Have you and your family been inspired by the Olympics? My children are too young to understand what’s going on but we’ve been busy visiting Olympic-themed exhibitions, seen the Torch Relay pass by the end of our road, been to the Olympic Park and cheered on the synchronised swimming at the Aquatics Centre, baked Olympic cupcakes and even visited a gold post box. I hope by blogging and scrapbooking these things the children will have memories that will inspire them as they grow up.

A fascinating new range of multi-media textbooks for iPad from The Amazing People Club aims to help young people understand the history of the Games. Three new interactive titles are launching in Apple’s iBookStore later this month that will introduce and celebrate some of the most amazing people through Olympic history.

Amazing Olympians

These interactive textbooks feature amazing photos from Olympics past, as well as interactive quizzes and audio stories that offer unique insights on the Games. In addition to this, avatar software features throughout and enables students to come “face to face” with characters including Socrates in Ancient Greece talking about the first Olympic Games, Oscar Swahn, the oldest Olympian who competed in the Antwerp Games at the age of 72 and Jesse Owens who broke racial barriers and records when he took 4 gold medals at the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936.

Giveaway:

I can offer 2 sets of 3 ibooks (Amazing Olympic Stories 1 & 2 and Amazing People of London) to two lucky readers of the gingerbread house. Please note these are books for iPad (iBooks) only.

To enter simply tell me the name of your favourite Olympian in a comment below.

My Fave has to be Usain Bolt, he seems to be a great guy. Watching how he is with people during the Olympics and his fun loving way playing up to the camera. He really made it entertaining and fun to watch. I have noticed a few more olympians have started to play up to the cameras too which is fun

I would say Dominic King – in the 50KM Race Walk.
This is because he came 51 (last) he could have just dropped out, but you could tell he was going to finish it no matter where he came.
