Amazing Creatures book review and giveaway

Amazing Creatures book review and giveaway

Posted on September 27, 2017 by jenny

I’ve always loved adult colouring books and my children do too. We were recently introduced to a lovely book we’ve all been fighting over. Amazing Creatures by Shobhna Patel is a gorgeous colouring book but goes one step further as you can turn your coloured pictures into 3D sculpture artworks.

The whole family loves colouring in and Amazing Creatures contains 24 different pages, full of amazing animals, to colour in. Once you have created your finished coloured sheet you can push up the ready cut flaps from behind the page to create simple lift-the-flaps.

Amazing Creatures book review and giveaway

To add more interest you can also curl the flaps. Some pages have been designed so you can turn them into 3D pop ups, and others require a little construction. There are plenty of detailed instructions for each animal at the back of the book, as well coloured sheets of paper you can lay beneath the pages to accentuate your 3D pictures.

It’s a really lovely book and it’s been out on the table for the last few weeks. It’s perfect for picking up before school or whilst the kids are waiting for dinner. They each chose a few of their favourite animals and it was lovely watching their creations come to life. My top tip would be to start pushing out the flaps from the centre of the page, otherwise there is not much left to hold on to!

One-sheet sculpture: Amazing Creatures

The only way it could be improved would be to perforate the pages. Some of the coloured pages ripped as we took them out, but other than that, it’s a lovely book.

Make it by hand Kids’ Craft: One-sheet sculpture: Amazing Creatures by Shobhna Patel, published by Carlton Kids. Colour and lift the flaps to create wonderful 3D art.

Win a copy of One-sheet sculpture: Amazing Creatures

I’ve teamed up with Carlton Kids and have one copy of One-sheet sculpture: Amazing Creatures to giveaway to one lucky reader.

To enter my giveaway you must answer the question via the Rafflecopter widget below, there are some bonus entries too. The giveaway is open to those with a UK postal address only and ends on 11th October. The winners’ name will appear on this post. Good luck!
