You may remember last week I was testing the miosolo real nappy from bambino mio. Our final three challenges were to try the nappy overnight, get someone who doesn’t usually try them to test them and see how they wash and dry.
The overnight challenge
Little Sis is only 7 weeks old so our nights are pretty much like our days! For the purpose of this review I pretended I was lucky enough to have an evening and put the nappy on her when we all finally went to bed at 11pm. Her longest period of sleep was only 2 hours so I had plenty of opportunities to check how the nappy was coping. Little Sis is a wriggler who moves around a lot but she was comfortable and slept as normal. She’s already drinking 180ml so her nappies are pretty wet and I change her regularly. Overnight I used the mioboost for added absorbency which worked well. It added a bit of bulk but didn’t hinder movement or sleep.
With dad challenge
My husband has never been keen on reuseable nappies despite the obvious opportunity to save money. He really didn’t want to take part in this challenge but he did after some gentle nagging. He found the miosolo really easy to put on and found the poppers easy to adjust so the nappy fitted. I’m not really sure why he was against using this type of nappy as he never touches the washing machine and very rarely changes either child! However, he was pleased to find it easy to use and has since suggested we use reuseables more often!
The washing and drying challenge
Since Little Sis came along I have been doing washing at least every day – not very environmentally friendly! The nappies need to be washed at 60 degrees and can be tumble dried. I usually wash everything at 30 or 40 so this was something I found a bit different. I have quite a few other reuseables which I’ve been using alongside the miosolo so I’ve been able to do a decent load of washing. I try not to use the tumble drier too much so have been leaving them to dry on the radiator and they’ve dried really well in a couple of hours.
I’ve enjoyed the challenge of using the miosolo and I’m going to try using them more often. They are easy to use, wash well and come in some lovely colours! They are not too bulky and I’m not really sure why I haven’t tried harder with reuseables.
