Review: Sorgenfresser or Worry-eaters

Posted on May 4, 2012August 20, 2012 by jenny

We were recently offered the chance to review the intriguingly named Sorgenfresser, or Worry-eaters. They keep an eye out for bad dreams and worries in a sleeping child’s room – if they see a bad dream they open their zippered mouth and gobble them up.

Take a look at this short video about them:

They are based on Gerhard Hahn’s German TV series, the idea behind Worry-eater dolls is that children can write or draw their worries, and the Sorgenfresser will ‘eat’ the worries away – invaluable for parents who spend nights up and down the stairs checking for monsters under the bed or just to reassure an anxious little one! I love this idea. Although my two are too young to be worrying about monsters just yet (fingers crossed!) these are lovely dolls and the toddler already takes his to bed every night, ready for when it’s needed.

There are 11 dolls and each has their own personality. The toddler has Gump who, with his mouse ears, can hear if there are any worries and turn them into joy. Little  Sis has the smaller version of Saggo which is colourful and soft which means she loves it, has already dribbled over it and made it hers.
