Five Happy Things

Five Happy Things {Week 2/2025}

Three Kings cake

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 2/2025}

Last week it snowed and was so very cold. It definitely felt like Winter and we celebrated by making our very first Three Kings cake. It tasted delicious and we wished me had made one before!

Sadly we took the Christmas decorations down. It took ages to take all the lights down and the decorations off the tree but the house felt bigger without them all. I gave the house a good clean and felt ready to face the New Year.

I read a lot over the Christmas holidays and finished The Book of Beginnings by Sally Page. This is an author I’ve read before and I always enjoy her books. This ticked off the first book of my challenge to read 35 books this year.

As well as reading I completed The World of Miss Marple which was a jigsaw I received for Christmas. This was a 1000 piece jigsaw and was quite fun, especially as the weather has been so cold.

Vanessa Bell dinner service

Over the weekend we visited the Vanessa Bell: a world of form and colour at the Milton Keynes Gallery, followed by The National Museum of Computing at Bletchley, home to the world’s largest collection of working historic computers. It felt good to have a proper day out and see some new things.
