Five Happy Things {Week 515}

Posted on September 2, 2024September 2, 2024 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 515}

Daughter had 3 days of art lessons last week and had a lovely time creating different pieces of art using pencil, charcoal and watercolours. She also finished a huge piece of crystal art she had been working on over the summer holidays. We’ve framed her crystal art as she’s so proud of it and she’s already started another piece.

During August we spent many evenings picking blackberries and freezing them. So I was able to make a delicious blackberry and apple crumble over the weekend. We have two drawers of our freezer filled with blackberries as they are so good (and free!).

We had an open house for our kids and their friends on Sunday and used our ooni pizza oven to make endless pizzas. The kids were so excited and planned the pizzas they wanted to make and came shopping to make sure we bought everything. The weather was amazing and we all got to sit outside and enjoy the garden. Such a different day from today with the constant gloomy skies and rain.

You can tell the evenings are getting shorter as I seem to be watching more shows. Last week I finished watching Bodkin on Netflix which I really enjoyed. It’s a dark comedy thriller, based on true-crime podcasters in Ireland. I’m also really happy that a new season of Only Murders in the Buildings has started, the first episode was really good.

I had to ditch the last book I was reading as I couldn’t get into it. However I was delighted to find someone sharing a picture of the cover of the new novel by Nita Prose, called The Mystery Guest. I loved her previous book The Maid, so was delighted to download and start reading this straight away.

Let me know what’s made you happy lately.

    I need to get one of those Oonis. I love authentic Italian pizza, and this looks perfect for that!

    Pizza parties are always a good time. It looks like you made some delicious ones, too.

    I really want to get a pizza oven! Maybe next summer, as the weather isn’t so good now.

    Hi Jenny. That pizza looks sooooo delicious…I wonder if I can make it using a conventional oven. Looks amazing.

    The crumble sounds so yummy. We tried to do pizza on Monday but our gas bottle had run out of gas so we had to do them in the oven haha, serves us right. Ohh I’ve got the maid on my TBR, need to read some thriller/ mysteries now it’s getting colder x

I also have a pizza oven and promised my daughter we would do a pizza night this weekend as the pizzas that we make homemade are her new favorite. The pizzas are such a great idea. I will need to look into this “ooni pizza oven” because I like the sound of endless pizzas. Thanks for sharing!
