Days out with a tween and teen can be a little tricky. They love a day in London but get bored quickly, unless being fed at the latest Insta famous bakery or bubble tea cafe. My daughter asked to visit the Twist Museum for her birthday and we were excited to have a fun London day out with a tween and teen.

I booked our tickets online and it wasn’t hard to find the entrance to Twist Museum on Oxford Street. There were lockers to leave coats and bags and we were soon walking through to the first immersive room.

Twist Museum is an immersive exhibition about illusions. You will find well known optical illusions and not so well known ones, and you will come away with a lot of photos. You follow a route through the displays and it can quickly become busy. Some of the exhibits we wanted to spend a lot of time on and it took us about 90 minutes to see everything.

Twist Museum is suitable for children. There were lots of younger children on the day of our visit and there was plenty for them to see and do. My teen and tween had a great time and it’s educational as well as fun – don’t tell them that though!

Developed with scientists and artists there really is something for everyone. Learn how we experience colour, perspective, shape, heat and sound.

Twist is an acronym for The Way I See Things and we found ourselves challenging our perceptions to the way we see things.

Twist Museum is not free, we paid £70 for a family ticket which I thought was reasonable as we spent around 90 minutes there. We booked online which saved us money, although you you can buy tickets at the door too.

There’s a small shop and toilets too but no cafe. As you are on Oxford Street there are plenty of options for food. We chose the nearest Five Guys before heading off for a trip to the Lego Store and more bubble tea!
