This year we are trying to make as many decorations as we can. We have some wonderful decorations the kids have made over the last few years and I look forward to seeing them each year. We definitely don’t need to buy any more Christmas decorations, and have enjoyed making a few new ones to add to our collection.
Cardboard roll Christmas trees
We love to raid the recycling box when we craft and couldn’t resist using some cardboard rolls to make sweet little Christmas trees. These are so much fun to make and you can decorate them however you like.
All you need is cardboard rolls (we used the inners from toilet rolls), scissors, gold and silver pens.
Take a cardboard roll and gently press it flat.
Take your scissors and cut the top of one end into a point.
Gently snip small triangles into the cardboard tube. Try and do this at the same point on both sides of the tube.
Repeat this step again to make more branches.
Take another tube and repeat these steps to create your cardboard tube Christmas trees. You can add more or less branches. Cut a base for a pot for your tree. Experiment with your scissors and have fun!
We created four cardboard roll Christmas trees and then decided to decorate them. We used gold and silver pens but you could use any colours.
We added dots for baubles and lines of tinsel. We even tried using a white pen.
Create enough cardboard roll Christmas trees for a little winter forest. This is a fun way to re-use cardboard tubes and a great decoration for your windowsill.
