Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.
Monday Happy List {Week 341}
Last week was our first week back at school after the Easter holidays. My children were happy to get back to Cubs and Scouts. My son was challenged to take a selfie with all the knitted Post Box toppers he could find. We spent a few evenings trying to find them so he could take a photo with each one. There were some amazing toppers including knitted Easter eggs and bunnies, a knitted Royal Mail van as well as the Queen and a plate of knitted sandwiches (to celebrate her 95th birthday).
They both got to wear their uniforms to school for St George’s Day and my son was finally invested into Scouts (having moved up last year!).
Although I went back to work I found the time to complete an embroidered tea towel and I finished the piece of kantha stitching I started a few weeks ago. I seem to have a little pile of things I want to stitch and sew, next up is the latest Hoop Club box from Cotton Clara which I’m looking forward to.
I’m really enjoying watching the Sewing Bee at the moment. It always makes me want to sew my own clothes and I spend hours poring over dressmaking classes! I’ve also been sucked into All That Glitters (a bit like Sewing Bee but for jewellery) and Make Up: A Glamorous History. I’m so grateful to have something decent to watch at last.
My latest book is also keeping me busy. Last week I started The Dream Weavers. I love historical fiction and this is a real page turner. The Saxon halls of Mercia play host to a stirring tale of forbidden love whilst, in the present day, dreams and visions threaten to unearth a mystery that has lain buried in the Welsh hills for a thousand years, in Erskine’s magical novel.
The weather was gorgeous last week and we had time for a few lovely walks. The bluebells have come out in Ruislip Woods and are a real stunning display of colour. Unfortunately our pup developed kennel cough so we’ve had to keep our walks much shorter so we don’t come into contact with other dogs whilst it’s in the contagious stage. My daughter also bought a skateboard so we’ve been spending time at the local skatepark watching her skate.

April 26, 2021 at 11:55 amIt looks like you had a really great week. It would be cool to learn to sew! Not that I intend to make my own clothes, but I would like to learn to make sofa covers, pillow cases, etc. 🙂

April 26, 2021 at 5:31 pmThe embroidered tea towel looks great I’ve not done that in years. I have a growing pile of clothing that needs sewing. Not looking forward to doing it.
