Exploring Hillingdon Court Park with kids

On our attempt to explore more of our local area we have been able to visit Hillingdon Court Park on numerous occasions. Hillingdon Court Park is a lovely open space within the London Borough of Hillingdon, another park carved out from an old estate, like Eastcote House Gardens.

Hillingdon Court Park

Hillingdon Court Park comprises a huge open space with outdoor gym, children’s playground, tennis courts, bowling green, as well as formal gardens. It’s a lovely space to walk the dog and take the children for a run.

The children’s playground is lovely with different areas for different ages. My children love the zip wire and climbing frame. There is also an outdoor gym which we all enjoy.

My daughter used to run with Kids Run Free once a month but unfortunately that hasn’t been help since early last year. Hopefully it will start up again soon as it’s something my daughter really enjoyed.

Hillingdon Court was originally built in 1858 as the family home of the Mills family. The grounds came under public ownership in 1928 when they became known as Hillingdon Court Park. The original house has been occupied by the ACS Hillingdon International School since 1978.

The grounds are really beautiful to walk through, especially during Spring. There are plenty of mature trees and we really liked that dead trees had been intentionally left to provide a habitat for wildlife. It’s a huge park so easy to find plenty of space to yourself.

Of course it wouldn’t be a family walk without the chance of a geocache and we were excited to find one we hadn’t done before on our most recent visit. My youngest loves to find them and was happy to scramble amongst the brambles to find one.
