I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write. Last week was the last full week of the Summer holidays.

Summer Holidays edit {Week 307}

I made sure to finish all our school shopping weeks ago so the uniform is all ready, the new shoes have been worn in a little at home and the kids have new lunch boxes. We bought new pencil cases but then I re-read that the school will be providing all stationery this term! The kids are excited and nervous and seem to be experiencing all kinds of emotions at the thought of returning to school soon. Our local Pizza Express re-opened so we went on Friday as an end of term treat.

We enjoyed a week at home relaxing and doing all the things we wanted to. For the children that included screen time and meant I could do some things I wanted to. I spent more time watching the tutorials with my You Can Folk It kit and tried some of the workbook.

Whilst we were on holiday we picked loads of cooking apples and the freezer is full of bags of apples which have been peeled and cored. I needed some space back so made some delicious apple pies. We also went blackberry picking and I tried making blackberry jam for the first time.

We went to Wiltshire to visit my mum for a few days. The weather was pretty cold for a Bank Holiday weekend but it was nice to be away from home for a few days. We took the pup for lots of walks and he always enjoys a walk at Bratton Camp and Westbury White Horse. He got to meet lots of other dogs which was good for his socialisation.

I can’t resist a little charity shopping. The kids always seem to pick up books but I found a gorgeous vintage embroidered tray cloth and vintage tape measure. I want to try and re-purpose the tray cloth into a face mask. I saw someone wearing an embroidered face mask and it looked just my kid of thing. I know I won’t be allowed to wear a face mask when I return to work in a Secondary School this week but I can use it when I go shopping.
